abs pump out of range???

hi all, im new to this group,i have a audi a3 1.8t 1999 v reg,AGU engine code.
i have recently had my abs light come on so i had it checked at a local garage and they have told me the fault is saying "ABS PUMP OUT OF RANGE" and that they think its the abs unit itself? just wondered if anyone has come across this?

hello mate welcome to the site, i have had this code on a passat but it was after the ABS pump had been replaced and needed coding to the car, have you had any problems with the ABS pump before this?

no up to now ive had no trouble with it.

ok, try having it reset with a scan tool and see if that cures it

excuse my ignorance but what is a scan tool? the local garage who had it on their laptop tried to reset it but i went down the road and it came back on again
