I'm new to this - had Audis in the past and now returned to the fold with a recently purchased 2005 Audi A6 3.0 TDI Quattro with 7" colour screen and 6 disc CD changer (audio CDs only ). I only provide these details as some of the information may be relevant to this post.

I've done a bit of reading, but find it surprising that I haven't been able to find a defititive list of latest mmi software versions and how to upgrade.

I did find a 5150 download (single disk only) on the Internet and tried it. Seems to have worked OK, but without disks 2 and 3 it may not have done anything significant.

SO THE QUESTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Is the mmi software model specific (i.e. does each model have its own set of software version numbers etc)?? Hopefully not.

Any idea where I'll find a list of software versions that apply to the A6 and a comprehensive set of instructions on how to upgrade?

I'll call the local Audi dealer in the morning (again), but the lack of knowledge I've encountered so far doesn't give me much hope. They are OK if you want to book the car in, but seem unable to provide meaningful information to more technical enquiries.

Any ifnormation, advice, links etc. would be very welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

5570 is the latest for your nav system (2g) you can buy the 3CD upgrade set from your dealer for less than a tenner

No instructions are needed, just put each cd in slot 1 of the changer and follow the prompts as to when you change to the next cd.

Thanks for the prompt reply, it's much appreciated. I'll get the discs tomorrow to ensure that the system is up to date

I'll be doing another post about the CD Changer and mp3s, but it's a separate thread for sure.

    Thanks again.

The latest 3 CD up-date for MMI 2G is the last, so if you run them you'll have the most upto date software that there'll ever be. Make sure you get the correct CD's though, depending on the system that your vehicle has ie MMI basic, MMI high etc.

They up-date all the control units on the MMI system to the latest level, this should cure most if not all of the various "issues" that have arisen.

Thanks for all the advice so far.

Getting hold of the 3 mmi disks (Software version 5570) is presenting a challenge, as 2 main dealers advise that they do not sell the disks, but will apply the upgrade if I take the car in.

I have written to Audi UK to ask whether this is a directive from them, or merely local policy, but if anyone knows a main dealer I can order the disks from I'd be obliged for a PM (to avoid the risk of advertising).

Must be the dealer being difficult. I bought mine from Reading Audi with no problems at all, they were on back order and took 7 days to arrive but thats not the dealer's fault of course.

It might be easier if you just quote the part number to the dealer and ask them to order it rather than asking for software update CD's?

cough... it is possible to find these CDs on torrent sites...
Or if you really want, I have them, and you can borrow or have them.

Other than (pseudo) 3D maps, I can't actually see any meaningful change after applying them. Plus I've lost the battery meter.
