3.0 TDi -Hesitancy in Starting When Hot

My A8 3.0 TDi has become increasingly hesitant to start when hot over the last year or so. It turns over perfectly lively every time when cold but when it's hot, i press the Start Button (or turn the key) and it feels like the engine has siezed for a short period - then it usually fires up. It has however recently not turned over at all at times - although if i take the key out and try again it invariably turns over and starts.

Audi had a look at it and suggested that it is due to an incorrect aftermarket battery being fitted (i fitted a 105 amp hour one instead of the recommended 110 in February 2010 - although the problem had been there long efore that time) but this doesnt make any sense to me as it will turn over perfectly well when cold - even through the worst winter we have had in Scotland for a decade.

Anyone have any advice?

Mine does this too, I have it booked in next week to have it looked at. I have a feeeling its something to do with the chain tensioner as mine rattles too, but they will check it over, if I get to the bottom of it I will let you know.

Mine does that too, its the chain tensioner that needs changing, rattles at startup for about 2 seconds. u looking at about £1500 from audi to fix it.
