    Hello,

hope you dont mind me posting on this forum but thought you guys would have more experience with the 1.8T engine. I have a A6 2000 1.8T AWT engine code with the sludge problem.

originally i had the red light come on, i got the sump dropped and the filter cleaned. car seemed ok for a while. i then started to get the engine management light on and very lumpy running. error message was saying bank 1 running too lean.

It had been looked at by a chief audi mechanic and had everything checked over plus new fuel filter, throttle body cleaned, injectors checked, fuel pressure checked, oil pressure at pump and compression checked, all ok.

the mechanic has pointed to the hydraulic timing belt tenioner filter being blocked and sometimes the chain loosening off which is making a ticking noise and allowing too much air into the system.

the one issue i have got is that he took off the rocker cover and the whole of the block was covered in burnt sludge all over. cams where ok.

car now runs ok but sometimes gets the ticking noise.

my question is what do i do about this sludge that is all over the head ? if i run an engine flush will it block something else up or would i be ok ? is there anyway of getting rid of the sludge ?

    any help appreciated ?

    thanks
    neil
