    Hi,
I've got a Golf GT TDi 110 Mk 4, and very recently it's been dyin on me. Not no power but complete engine cut out! The reves drop and i loose all my power steering. The main problem is that the car won't start back up for a couple of mins, the coils don't appear on the screen and the engine just doesn't seem to start but just keeps turning over which either leaves me stranded on the motorway or rolling to a stop. I've changed the "fuel cut-off solenoid" but this does not seemed to have helped at all. Some people have mentioned it might be a relay but if so which one!

Hmm, Could be anything from Fuel Pump or if the whole car cuts out an electrical problem maybe.

As the power steering is going as well as the engine, it DOES sound like electrical problem, try checking first all the connection to the battery, and the wire to the alternator, if you have a meter check its around 13v+ ideally 13.8. That will rule out the battery connections depending on the results.

Another option is to get it to a garage for a fault code reading.

Attachment 647Voltage supply relay for engine control unit. The printed circuit board n the relay cracks and voltage interuption occurs on the secondary side of the relay. No fault code is stored and can be very intermitant.Cost £15 located on additional relay carrier behind drivers side lower dash trim. You can confirm this fault by checking for loss of voltage at the ecu.The position of the ecu relay is 12
