I picked my Avant up over the weekend, spend the day cleaning, fixing and making a list of bits that needs doing to it.

List of bits that needs fixing:=-

    Both front doors have dropped.
Been reading reports and fixes about this. The socket fix, the lose bolt that holds the hinge to the door and replacing the complete hinges.
I’ll double check for lose bolts, if they are ok then I’ll have to replace the hinges and hope I can line them up ok.

MFD/DIS has the typical missing lines.
This seems typical fault and needs sending off. Can any one recommend a company to do the repair? In the south west would be great.

The door trim lowers needs replacing.
They seem to just clip on and rust off. Can any one recommend place to pick up a new set? Audi?

The panels in the boot that keeps the cover in place at the back needs replacing.
    Breaker or Audi?

    N/S/F indicator lens.
    Buy a new one.

    N/S/F lower bumper grill.
    But a new one.

    The front cup holder.
Are they fitted to the centre console or are they independent items that I can replace?

Remote central locking is not working by the key.
Every thing else works when you use the key, total closure/open, locking, unlocking, arming and the indicators flash as well.
I’ve replaced the battery in the key and still nothing. I’ve plugged VAGCOM in and it can’t interrogate the immobiliser unit (I think that’s it, I can’t remember 100% I’ll double check later).

When I plugged VAGCOM in there was loads of error. Cleared them and non of them came back. Really happy with that.

Couple of bits that I want to do to it is to fit electric rear windows, upgrade the stereo and fit the dog guard. Bit of searching, money and work is going to involved I think.
    Be fun though.

Any help and advice on the above issues would be grateful.

    Thanks.

For the c/l check part number of pump, last owner may of replaced it with wrong one (try connecting 35 central locking with vagcom)

cup holders seperate but you need to remove console as there screwed in from behind

for parts try breakers/ebay unless you want to spend a fortune at audi

    Thanks Olds.
I dont think the C/L pump has been replaced.
I bought the car off my grandad and he kept ever receipt for all the work carried out. I did not see any thing for the pump.
I will check the part number just in case its been lost or something.

Dont mind spending cash at audi if it saves me from going back to the breakers.
Might ring them up and brace my self for a shock.

C/L could just need the remote reprograming if the battery has been dead a while, try local autolocksmith should only charge you a small diagnostic fee to reprogram, prob wouldnt charge you if it doesnt work.

I've had the car for vagcom for several hours the other day having a play and changing settings and trying to work out if there is a way to program 1 key with out the 2nd.
I dont think there is any of doing.

I left the 2nd key back with my grandad, so i need to pick it up and try programing the keys and replace both batteries.

New door hinges are ordered and pain. give that ago next week and hope it fixes the issues of the doors drop.
also got a cruise control stalk to plug in and see if that works.

    Hello Axios,

Nearly 2.5 year old thread, I know. But I recently bought B5 A4 Avant and I have few same problems.

    1) Dropped driver's door - did you resolve this by adjusting or did you by the hinges (upper/lower or both?)

    2) DIS missing line - Any luck with this? DIY solution or did you take it to a company?

    3) Boot cover panel - My cover doesn't stay in place when pulled out to cover the boot area because the hinges on both sides where the studs are secured are chipped (part of the plastic trim on both sides of the boot). Any DIY recommended for this?

Any update on the above would be very useful for me to go about (I'm also in Plymouth so I'll be definitely useful to know where/who you went to resolve the problems!)

    Thanks!
