    Anyone else tried this yet?

I'd been running on VPower and thought I'd give this a shot so put a full tank in (it was literally on fumes on the VPower). Other than a bit more noise from the engine at idle (and it's only a bit) the economy I got today was unbelievable....

Crappy run to Surrey and back from Newmarket - with bad traffic on the way down, and 3 hours of stop/start on the M25/A1/M11 on the way back - and got full-to-full reading of 47.6mpg in my 1.9 Avant Sport Tdi Multitronic....it normall guzzles in the start/stop.

Am going to monitor, but first decent run (230 miles round-trip) looks promising......I never used to get more than about 43 on Shell's Diesel Extra....and sub 40 on Tesco's.....

Would welcome comments from anyone else...

    Cheers,
    Dan.

So the FuelSave diesel is giving you better economy than the VPower diesel? Interesting, might try the petrol version myself. I've found I'm getting much better economy with my 1.8T 190 after the throttle body had been cleaned. Also noticed that the Sainsbury in my neck of the woods is selling super unleaded for the the same price as regular which is a whole 8p cheaper than Shell!

wow sounds good, as i have NOT heard of this type of eco fuel ! .

as i get in my sig car about 47 mpg tops on a motor run to my ladys.

& about 40 or so around town with not so many stop starts.

not bad for the engine but all the fuel i can save will help

I was advised to do a Throttle Flush on my Auto a while ago, any reasons why you had yours done?

P.s I cant believe the economy would be better the V power

Mr Meeks, see thread here as to why I got my throttle body cleaned. Was getting a warning light on the dash and had the breather valve replaced (although didn't know this was the problem at the time)

Averaging 27mpg around town before getting this done, now doing over 30mpg with same routes and driving style although hot weather might have something to do with it too

Doubt FuelSave would be better than V Power but am interested in the Sainsbury brew, it's cheaper than any other super unleaded but have no idea about the their detergent additives.

So far for me it seems to be marginally better, which I'm at a loss to explain as it's like-for-like mileage/driving/traffic wise....

I'll review after a few tanks, but it seemed to burn less when I was stuck in traffic compared to the VPower......note: seemed, i'll confirm with numbers in a few tanks time.

    Cheers,
    Dan.

I am running on the fuelsave now and I think it is slightly better on the mpg than I was getting before, I have run v-power a few times but don't really see much point in the diesel it's not worth the extra 11p per litre, fuelsave is shells new fuel and has replaced there standard fuel so it comes at no extra cost and around where I live shell is one of the cheapest garages

If you were paying 11p more per litre that was a non-shell owned fourcourt, as it's supposed to be maximum 7p. It is a LOT quieter and less smokey in mine, however I think I'm seeing the same as you - more mpg and no noticeable difference other than a little more noise....

Well I got my quarterly V-Power petrol statement through today and Shell "assures" me that V-Power offers better performance than Fuelsave.

Nothing about V-Power offering better fuel economy though
