    Hi,

Im desperately looking for some advice on the following issue i have with my Audi A4.I've brought the car to several local garages (4 in total - with plug in computers etc) and all have failed to diagnose the problem i have with starting my car.

    a) Basically when i start my car (hot or cold),the cars turns over (struggles) for about 5 seconds every time before eventually starting but if i turn on my parking lights prior to starting, the car starts immediately as it should everytime.Has anybody ever experienced this????

    b) also, when the car does start,on some occasions,it will turn off immediately by itself after starting, when i try to restart,it continues to knock off after starting. To resolve this,i have to remove the key from the ignition (guess it resets the car),re insert the key and then the car will start until the next time it happens........

This has been driving me mad for months now and i am anxious to get it fixed.I already spent some money on the car so therefore i dont want to bring it to a main dealer as i know i will be charged an arm and a leg with no guarantee of finding the solution!

Has anybody ever experienced these problems????

Any thoughts or ideas on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!!

    Cheers!!

    Frustrated Audi owner.

The starting then cutting out is the immobiliser cutting in,
sounds like the coil reader in the barrel is playing up.
The wires to the coil can also get damaged with moving the streeing wheel.
Have the column shield off and check, also try new batteries in your key...

    Cheers Kite!

I will try that and see.

I think the problem with issue (a) is a faulty headlight switch based on other threads i have just read.I will try both solutions and will post the outcome.

If anybody else has any other possible solutions, please let me know.

    Thanks again.
