    First of the year (2009)

West Midlands and East Wales look like they are getting some !

Looks like the South again may have some later as there are some stormes moving up from France.

    Bigcol..

Recently i have got "obsessed" with watching Storm Chasers" on Discovery, on Sunday i spent 5 hours catching up on them and another 2 hours last night!! The wonders of Sky plus!..

Also... Tornado's Hunters has just started a new series on Discovery which i watched tonight... them guys seem to be even more insane !

If you have not watched Storm Chasers, check out this click from You Tube...

Another year on, and more storms to come. I've been on night shift this week, and I've been watching proceeding's on the IOW Storm Tracking web site. Tuesday/Wednesday's storms ironically headed straight for the IOW, and went within the inner circle on the tracking map (16 mile radius I think), so it could be a sign of things to come this year?
There are some fantastic film clips on You Tube if you put in 'lightning strikes' - amazing how close some people have been to them without being toasted!

Looks like we might be in for some proper action on the storm front today.

It's now 2.30 and there is a lot of activity over Northern France and it is heading this way.

    Yep,
Here we go, it looks like the opening titles to Dad's Army, with the German's gathering on the French coast waiting to come across the Channel. Batten the hatches, force shields up, & bring it on!
My fault for washing the car...

That is pretty bonkers. My parents are addicted to that thing- and that is the busiest they have ever seen it.

I just wish we would get a good storm down in Plymouth.

When you look at the strike rate maps on the IOW site, and we're still in the sub-10,000 strikes - what must it have been like on the days that saw 30,000 to nearly 60,000 strikes as in the 'most active days' section of the web site?
My wife was driving into work in Hull yesterday, and she saw a lightning stike hit the road no more than 20 yards in front of her! Thankfully, she was in her VW Polo (which is an invincible shield of steel)! ha ha!
