Written from the point of view of a 1yr old child.

Last week Daddy borrowed Grandads power hose to clean the patio ready for my 1st birthday (which was good, I got many presents) and whilst he had it he gave Mummys 55 reg Polo a quick rinse. Well Daddy wasn't very happy when the laquer on the bonnet of Mummys Polo started coming off on Friday 9th July . Daddy says only about the size of a 20p came off before he stopped hosing it down.

Daddy then rang the Listers dealership from where mummy bought the car back in March / April 2008 (well before I was born) to ask about the paint warranty. You see, when mummy bought the car there was already some damage to the bonnet so the salesman had to send the car away to the Listers Body Shop which is only 200 meters down the road from the Coventry dealership.

Daddy was transfered by the service dept to the bodyshop where Daddy spoke to a lady called Karen at the bodyshop who was having some difficulty with her pc at the time, but she called daddy back very quickly indeed and confirmed it was they who sprayed mummys car bonnet when she bought it in 2008 and she invited Daddy to bring the car down so they could inspect it.

Daddy explained to karen that as he doesn't know what he is doing from day to day at work so couldn't pin a specific day down. This wasn't a problem for Karen who said to bring it in when you can, ask for her specificaly and she will have the paperwork kept on her desk.

Daddy is planning to take mummys car to the bodyshop for inspection on the afternoon of Thursday 15th July. I am hoping to go with Daddy to Listers bodyshop as the last time Daddys Audi was in for inspection I came out of it quite well

I will ask the lady if she recognises me from their internal email that was sent.

I will get Daddy to update further on Thursday or Friday evening after i'm in bed.

    Righteo then.

been to get the car looked at and the usual cost that the bodyshop would charge the dealers for the repair would be £190 +vat. As the cause of the flaking lacquer is an unknown they have offered a good will guesture of 75% leaving us with £60 to pay.

Now i don't think that is too bad. The original paint warranty had expired (3 years) and the repair warranty had also expired (1 year).

    what are your thoughts???

I would have thought a 1 year old would pretty much think about, what would happen if?

and itchy gums, must chew, take chairleg, bite until satisfied!

Looks like they did you a good deal, this had made we want to look for somewhere to get my golf door/rear panel sprayed from when some filthy chav keyed it after the 2nd day of owning it.
