    Hi there all,

Ever since this Thursday I have been having endless trouble with our VW Golf 2004 1.4 litre. The car will just cut out as if starved for fuel. I have just replaced air filter, plugs, fuel filter. I found a solenoid that is connected to the fuel line - was part of the alarm/anti hi-jack system - I thought I solved the problem when I bypassed this but alas no luck the problem re-occurs.

The car will "magically" restart after approximately 1 hr.

My next move is to dissasseble and possible replace the fuel pump as well as check and clean the carbs. Here's another thought, is there a fuel cut off on the carbs themselves?

    Does anybody have any ideas?

Well gee guys I'm overwhelmed by all your sugestions .

So far so good, touch wood. I seem to have solved my problem. I by passed the original Golf mechanical fuel pump and fitted my own 12VDC electriv fuel pump. I'm blown if I can figure out why the car would "magically" restart after an hour - but I don't care it seems to be working now.

More power to the VW Empire!
