And anyone else serving for that matter.

The other night I was having a drink, when a crew in uniform rolled up to the door, they got refused entry, the reason they were out was they had just put one of their lads in the ground that day who was KIA a few weeks back.

None of them imo were rowdy or too drunk, this is happening all too often lately and it's shabby to say the least, if these lads are good enough to fight for the country, but not good enough to let have a drink if they managed to survive a tour, yet any old drug taking chav is welcomed.

Where are we at right now? for my money they are being tret just like the Nam lads were when they returned to the USA without a cup in their cabinet, these boys are the best of the best, they ain't gonna mug your nan, they ain't gonna do anything a disciplined man wouldn't do, all they wanted to do was have a drink on a day they waved a mate off, and got shunned.

Anyone wanna add to it, shoot it down, or just comment please do, cos times come that these boys are admired for who they are.

That is shameful! As you rightly say these people are the best of the best. They should be respected everywhere they go.

If I remember rightly, military personnel were told a couple of years back to stop wearing their uniforms in towns. I think Peterborough was one example. I think this was due to the odd bit of abuse from people regarding the Iraq war. Military should proudly wear their uniforms (and should be encouraged to do so) at all times, not just on bases. Anyone abusing/disrespecting them in any way should be dealt with by the police.

Political correctness, and the fear of being seen as bigoted/biased is wrecking this nation! The Americans have it right I think- proud of their forces, a flag on their houses, and a strong national identity.

The more I hear of this country the more it shames me to be a product of it!

That Landlord needs naming & shaming with a letter to the local press and a public boycot of the pub!

I couldnt agree more with all the comments it is just another sad reflection of some of the individuals in this country. Regardless of your feelings in relation to the war, is it illegal, is it a just war, blah blah. The fact still remains that our armed forces are out there fighting and carrying out countless acts of bravery. They never complain or whine unlike some of the waste of space that populate Britain. These guys deserve to celebrate the life of a fallen friend and colleague and if they want to do it in the uniform that brought them together then in my opinion no one has the right to prevent there celebrations

That sort of thing makes my blood boil, I would have taken the person refusing them entry to task and probably got into trouble myself, these chaps are the thin line between us and the enemy and deserve all the respect we can give them. What they do is amazing and makes me feel ashamed for being too scared to do it myself.

You have summed my own feelings up in that one sentence.

I've nothing but admiration for those serving for our country. If I was the landlord, I'd be welcoming them with open arms.

It was a nightclub guy's, and the doorman who had to tell them no is a mate of mine, hence me trying to get them in, he told me to shut up and mind my own business, which in itself told me it wasn't his descision to not let them in, and when I questioned it later he absolutely didn't want to talk about it, which again said to me he'd only been acting under orders, I've a feeling the real motivators in this are the Police and health & safety rules, the awful thing today is that anyone being out of control can sue the club if they get hurt being ejected, and the Police seem to be under orders to do the club, it's a hard one, cos nobody wants to be sued by some mug who spent £3 on a pint and caused £300 of damage and then sued for another £3000 because he sprained his ankle on the way out.

There has to be something done to make provision for lads returning from war, some will be damaged, some will end up being resentful towards establishments that appear to ban them, I just felt really bad for them that night, months of crawling around the desert in full kit, losing friends, and then to get home, and the one day they needed to be allowed a valve release they were denied it, all I can add is I hope the "manager" of this method of regulation is reading, and I hope he takes a good look in the mirror at someone who clearly isn't a team player, or at least not the team I'm on about, fat salary, nice house, flash car, some tart who loves him for what he provides rather than who he is, still if I had to compete with some well smart Marine turned out in immaculate uniform, boots a shining, hair graded, and posture straighter than a vertical line, I'd be sitting in my office thinking up ways to keep em out too.

For any of you reading, Soldier,Sailor,Para,Marine,RAF etc etc, there are ppl who still appreciate you in this country, and feel proud of what you are and what you stand for.
