I've noticed when I start the car from cold theres a lot of blue smoke from the exhaust. When I accelerate alot more comes out. After the car is taken for a spin it seems to be no existant from what I can see.

I've given the car a good cleanout i.e. 3rd gear 70mph 4500rpm for 10mins so its not build up.

I recently discovered a tuningkit.com unit in the car could this be it giving a rich mixture at low revs.

i looked into that kit peter - seems it alters the fuel pump - why not take it off and see how the car runs , that chip maybe fauly or dead if its been fitted for a long time. cant hurt anything for trying with it off.

Cheers, Yeah I was thinking I may take it off and see if theres a noticable decrease in preformance or more importantly blue smoke.

I'll have to see about getting a dyno test done as you say to see whats actually going on.

I would check the EGR valve is working correctly. Might be an idea to undo the bootom intercooler pipe and see how much oil pours out.

I've disconnected the tuningbox.com and it seems to have fixed the problem. I haven't had much time to test it but started it up from cold this morning and ok.

There is oil collecting around the bottom of the intercooler. I take it the intercoller is (if your standing at the front of the car looking at the engine) on the right tucked into the bumper. There is a bit of oil collecting here and on the plastic cover but I was told this is normal as the engine wears oil will come out the breather pipe. There isnt a massive amount and its not dripping just residue over time.

Where is the EGR valve and how can I check it.

Engine cover, next to the oil fill cap, looks like a brass top hat, if you pull the pipe off it, you should be able to feel suction at the pipe, if the car has done 50k plus the EGR will be dirty, and is cleanable.
