    Guys,

I've just bought my first Audi, an A4 Avant 1.9 TDI Sport, which I love. Anyways, the day after I picked it up the Emission Control System light came on but went back off after about 3 or so hours and hasn't been back on since.

A mate of mine has access to a handheld diagnostic tester (Bosch KTS 200 if that helps) which came up with the following faults:

464a Solenoid valves for engine mounting. Short to B+
4500 Coolant temperature sensor open circuit/positive short.

I understand the coolant temp sensor is pretty common and easy enough to sort. My local garage has offered to fit one free while they do the cambelt and water pump.

My question's about the engine mount.....I understand its a hydraulic mount. Is there only one? If not, how do I know which one it is? (or is there only one that has a sensor fitted?? )

Also, as the lights now gone off.....is it worth bothering at all?? Could it just be a 'glitch' and there isn't actually anything wrong. I'm half tempted to have the work done anyway as the garage I bought it from has offered to pick up the bill!!

    Thanks in advance

Its worth getting it changed,if the garage is picking up the tab, its what you've paid for, buying from a trader.

    Help again please!!!

Had the temp sensor and engine mount done today. The garage then put the car on their machine to clear the codes.....the temp sensor code disappeared but the other code popped back up and did this every time they cleared it.

Has anyone had experience of this before? Could it be a fault with the sensor on the mount? I'm a little peeved that after getting the garage I bought the car from to stump up for the repair, I've had it done and it's not cleared the code. Also, is it really worth worrying about??

The mechanic said he'd not come up against this code before and was puzzled the mount hadn't cleared it.

Thanks for any help you can offer

    Well...

I had these EXACT same faults on a 54 plate 1.9tdi avant, just a few weeks ago.

Took it in with the Emissions Control light on. Audi independant diagnosed as Engine coolant sensor, replaced it, and light went off.

He mentioned about this other fault code, that he hadnt seen or heard of before. And didnt want to worry me with it! After asking him, he said it was something to do with the Engine Mount!

So if anyone has had history of this, or knows if this is urgently needing fixed, would be nice to hear from ya!
