C'mon then folks, there must be thousands of opinions out there, what brand of tyres would people choose for a '05 140 Sport (235/45 W 17)??

(Cost is a factor and looking for something with a reasonable lifespan and good grip, don't like slipping in the wet!!!)

Thanks to you all in advance

Anything you want is going to be £100 ish a corner mate, my mate thinks he can do me budgies for £60 each, but they will be cheap rubber, I rang for some prices yesterday, bloke said ring back in 10 mins, I did and nobody knew who I'd spoken to, or wanted to help any further.

Start at mid range, avoid the Nexen, the Kumho and Falken's would be my pick.

Mine is currently running on P zero rossi's and seems fine. Had no problems in any conditions yet.

After having the car for a while now not sure if its the suspension set up or the tyres. But either way the car handles well and rides well for a big car that is lowered.

Could not wait to get rid of the P Zero Rossos my Sport came on. Primacy HPs came next. Better and longer lasting (essential at the price!). Then Goodyear Assymetrics which IMO are the dog's danglies. Also cannot wait to move on from the Conti SportContact 3s the CC came on.

Go to www.pneus-online.co.uk where you will find reviews of all these tyres and more from drivers across Europe and resultant ratings which you can compare. Their (ex-fit) prices also give a good feel for competive pricing.

Vredestein Ultrac Sesanta (sp) or Michelin Primacy HP seem to get pretty good reviews.

Heres what I think you should put on:

    1) Nankang NS2

    2) Continental - thats what I have on my car.

Just to throw a third option, I put BF Goodrich g-grip on my Passat, cost £100 each. I've covered 35K and still have 3.5. left on each tyre and these tyres are my front tyres!
BF Goodrich are made by Michellin, my local tyre place recommended it and I'm glad I tried them. Handling is fine, no understeer I've noticed, but I do only stick to 60mph on country roads.
