    Default High oil consumption. – 03-07-2010,09:18 AM
    Very new to forum, i have a 1997 1.4 polo, which has begun to use alot of oil. There is little smoke on start up and recently failed mot on emmisions. They werent high but just over.

    Any ideas on what might cause high oil consumption, i have looked inside filler cap and no presence of white gunk. Could it be the piston rings.

    hi

    start the car heat it up to 90 degree and accelerate it over 3400 rpm and release the gas if it smokes it is the ring.

    previous experience.
