    Hi there

I'm after some semi urgent advice please (evening before long holiday / family drive. I have just lifted the back seat to vacuum. Under the fabric/felt under the seat there is quite a lot of oil / diesel. It hasn't gone through the felt. There appears to be some sort of sump under there (to drain the tank?) which might be leaking.

    Car is a 140ps 2lt b6 estate.

Any idea what it is or whether I need to take immediate action?

    Many thanks for any advice.

    Cheers
    KP

Just mopped it up and there wasn't much there. I have not had the car since new. I don't suppose that is where you drain the tank from and the previous owner put unleaded in? Might explain it if a bad clean up job was done?

When the fuel pump went on my 2005 Passat that's where the breakdown guy went first. Back seat out, and underneath on the drivers side was the pump, which obviously sits in the tank. I'm not 100% but I think the fuel tank is right under the seat, where the fuel pump is located. Maybe the sealing ring has gone/perished. Might be wise not to fill the tank too high until sorted to minimise the risk of further leakage.
