Remote key fob

I apologise in advance as I am well aware from looking through the forums for the last couple of hours that this is a subject that has been discussed on more than one occasion!

I have a '96 Audi A4 saloon which came with a remote key fob similar to this (but without the 'Scorpion' logo) and both buttons seemed to do the same thing (both locked/unlocked):



For whatever reason, it wasn't long before this stopped working (having said that, the LED still lights up when either of the buttons are pressed). I don't know if this is an original key fob, an aftermarket installation or a replacement! Can someone offer definitive advice and step-by-step instructions on how to get this working again if possible.

OR, preferably, would it be possible to program a more modern-looking key fob, such as this, and if so how would I go about it?

The simplest most economical method is to fit one of the keyless entry flip keys off ebay.

They are only around £24, and work better than the original equipment.

If you want to get your original IR or early RF system working again, check the conections on the control box under the rear seat bench, and the pump in the osr boot wall.

It is most likely the key fob which is faulty.
