I ordered my A4 on 8th May and I've been given a build week of 28 which is w/c 12th July.

My dealer states that it will take 4 weeks from then to delivery so expected delivery around 9 - 15th Aug, I was originally told 30th Jul for delivery

Should I wait another 2-3 weeks for the new 60 registration

I'm obviously desperate to pick the car up but will the resale differential be significant between a late '10 plate and the early '60 plate?

They have already agreed to accept my trade in early as my current MOT & tax expire on the 31st Jul.

    Decisions decisions!!!

it will be the same car, but with a different reg. it doesnt really make any difference, but will impress the neighbours more, especially if you get it on the day 60 comes out. for this reason alone, i would wait..

I had the same dilemma last year. In the end I waited until 1 September to collect my car. The dealer confirmed that whilst everyone could see whether a car was a late reg, the car price guides and car buying public would always see it as the reg it has on, rather than the reg that it almost was. In money, the difference could easily be a four-figure sum.

    Audi dealer rules :

[1] When selling, stress if doesn't make any difference
[2] When buying, stress that the public will see it as older and therefore they'll have to relect that in the offer.

If they'll px earler and you don't need it then I'd wait. If you don't then I guarantee after 2-3 weeks ownership when you see the 60's on the road you'll be thinking "I wish i'd have waited".

Thanks for your opinions, I'm strongly inclined to wait for the new plates.

I can make do with my other halfs wheels until the schools go back then maybe I can talk the dealership into a loan car or a cheap hire for the last three weeks of Aug.

I agree that being so close it makes sense to wait, nearly a 60 plate will still be a 10 plate months and years down the line.
