Door dent repair costs

My Wife phoned this morning to tell me that a taxi has just dented both offside doors on her 1997 Golf gti.

The taxi driver doesn't want to go through his insurance as he'd rather pay directly for the repairs.

Anyone any ideas how much it'll cost for 2 door repairs. I'm assuming it's going to be more than the car is worth, but I suppose I'd better see about finding some quotes to see what he wants to do.

She said that the doors open OK, they're jsut both dented, but I don't know if it's just the skin or the structure of the door that's damaged.

Well, at the taxi driver's request, I got a few prices for repairs. Ranging from £540 upto "between £600-£700".

We've agreed to accept compensation for the change in the car's value due to the damage, which is less than the taxi driver's NCD, and we're happy with.
