Have I been diddled?

My 140 tdi estate is just coming up for 3 years old and 30k.
When I purchased it new from the dealer I took out a 3 year/30000 mile VW service plan.
I am obviously on time and distance.
The service schedule with the car says the following:

At 10000 or 1 year oil change service
At 20000 or 2 years an interval service
At 40000 or 3 years an inspection service.

Note it states nothing about 30,000 miles.

Just had the car in for its 3 year service and assumed I would get an "inspection" service, so I was surprised when I picked it up and had been given the "interval" service.
I queried this and was told why would I expect a 40,000 at 30,000, to which I replied I was expecting a 3 year service. I was asked what would I expect at 40,000 and I said an interval service. I was told I was misinterperating the schedule and that a prepaid 30,000 service plan would not include a 40,000 service.

Anybody got any thoughts?

It says "or" so it's either 40,000 or 3 years. You reached 3 years so I would expect an inspection service.

I would suggest speaking to the service manager and explain you are not happy. Failing that seek legal advise.

Did you get any documentation of what this plan amounted to in the vehicle delivery pack?

Another thought is VW has changed service schedules over the years, sometimes, retrospectively, so the official schedule applicable to your car now might now be different to that in your service book.

How much did you pay for the service plan mate?

The service plan is/was with VW and not the dealer and only available when the car is purchased new.
I chose 30,000 miles over the 3 years as I also run a 206.
A monthly direct debit of £16 per month for 36 months gives £576 in total.

For that I got 3 annual services, an air conditioning service, 2 brake fluid changes (should only have been one!!), roadside assistence for the 3 years and MOT.

It also included items not covered by warranty i.e., wiper blades, brake pads and clutch as long as no negligence. But didn't need any of those. Overall quite good value I think.

Currently VW have 3 years free servicing and 0% finance on the Passat.

I'll check the small print when I get mine.
