    Hi all,

I have a 51 plate A4 130 tdi the problem is intermitent binding brakes, its always the N/S/F and the O/S/R that are the problem. If you strip the calipers they are nice and free and after having them to bits the problem usually goes away for a while. I am starting to think it may be the dreaded master cylinder/ servo problem but before i put my money in audis till i was wondering if anyone has had the same probems ?? any help would be excellent.

    Hi there

I had a similar problem with my Y reg A4 1.9 TDI where I went through a set of pads and disks before realising (via a local garage) that it was actually the brake servo failing. Apparently its not the best design in that water can get in an congregate which leads to the brake servo rusting and then failing after time..

I don't remamber the replacement was too expensive - couple of hundred quid all in i think (non-Audi dealer).

The rear offside on mine was rubbing, and after dismantling the caliper i found that the handbrake spring was rusty and stiff, and not returning fully.

After a bit of work to loosen it they stopped rubbing.

I know your front is playing up as well, but this might be worth a quick look.
