Serviced my car at the weekend, one of the items I replaced was the fuel filter.

Drove into work today, car was all over the place with ABS kicking in and struggling under brakes.

Pulled over to find the fuel filter inlet metal retaining clip was not secured properly, I'm hoping it was a case of me not refitting correctly rather than it popping out by itself

Diesel all over the place, crap!

Did you replace the “O” rings?

Did you lubricate the “O” rings with a little diesel before pushing the “T” piece down?

The clip cannot pop off as far as I know as long as it is engaged in the filter and “T” piece but I have seen the “T” pieces crack and they are not cheap.

You can se how easy it would be to kill someone being a mechanic, can’t you…

    Thanks Crasher,

Yes to all of the above, both "O" rings replaced with new and lubed, there was a black and a blue one from memory.

I'm fairly certain I didn't push the clip on properly, yes I see it goes through filter and "T" piece.

Scary thought, what could have happened!
