    Hi there,

    I'm new to this forum.
    I purchased a audi a4 1.8se 5 months ago from a dealer.
it is a 98 with 110,000 miles on it.
Before i got it off the dealer i got them to change the timing belt.
ever since i got it however, i've noticed there is a lack of acceleration changing gears until it hits 2500 rpm and then it'll accelerate.
i brought it back to the delaer to inspect and asked them to check the maf.
they had it for 2 days and tested it and returned it to me saying there was nothing wrong with the car.
is it anyone else getting this problem and how did you resolve the problem?
very annoying when driving in the city as it looks like your a learner driver with the car rocking every time you change gears

hi. i would say this is normal. i have the same car and it does just the same.
i would say its more about your driving style. usually when i drive around town i don't put my foot down and chage gears around 2000rpm just to save petrol and engine life. this results in a slow steady speed and i tend to keep it in 4th gear at 30-40 mph.
when i do put my foot down just for fun, then i change gears at about 3500 or more and that would result in some good wheel spin
    '98 A4 1.8SE 235k miles..... and going
    '97 A4 1.8T 148k miles...... gone

No, there is definately air getting into the Mass airflow filter somewhere.
when i test drove the car there was no lag in changing gears.
They did inspect the maf but said it was fine.
Maybe i should bring it in to a audi dealer to do further tests?
any other ideas what the problem is caused by?
