I have a 2006 2.0 TDI DSG with 53,000miles on the clock and have been getting between 59 and 62mpg on a 170 mile daily return trip for the last two weeks on mostly motorways at 70-75mph. A five mile commute to the station from cold gives a best of 52mpg, according to the average trip consumption readout. I use Shell fuel which combined with a well run in engine and a light right foot seems to deliver the goods.

Mine is a '57 GT Sport 140bhp with about 33k, from what I remember this is about run in for an engine and should be running at its peak.

I get anything from 38mpg when I 'drive it like i stole it!' to about 65mpg if I cosy up with the lorries on the motorway. I think the long term av is about 45mpg, my regular commute to work is a mix of fast a/b roads and a little motorway and I normally get 45-55mpg. I tend to get the lower mpg when there is less traffic, and the higher mpg when moderate to high as that keeps my speed down to 60/70mph ish...

In the 1000 miles I've done in mine so far I've got avg 48mpg but thats on A roads with overtaking of slow Norfolk drivers and tractors.

Being in Norfolk/Suffolk I've forgotton what a motorway is, they dont exist here...

I'm in Aus, so you'll have to convert to imperial, but I tend to get down to about 4.7 - 5 L/100km on the freeway, and average about 5.5 - 5.8 L/100km in the city.

I actually find which service station I go to makes a difference, and am now sticking religiously to Shell as BP increased my fuel consumption by about half a litre per 100km and made my golf far less responsive.
