    I had an AJM'd Golf, that failed.

    Brother in law had a Sharan with a 115 (don't know the code) that failed.

    And I've read countless reports on here.

    I've had two AWX engined 130hp cars with no problems. All my cars are fastidiously serviced at 5k intervals.

    I think you were lucky with yours !

    I did the same and never had an issue with VAG engines running to 200k and beyond. At the end of the day, you get out what you put in.

    Except I did.

    Despite the service regime which twice exceeded that specified by VW, the head gasket failed.

    Saying that HG failure could happen regardless of any service regime and with the early 115's it is a commen problem.
