I wouldnt bother with a induction kit personally. Reason being that it would just suck in hot air from the engine and defeat the object. they only really work if you have v.good supply of cold air entering it. Im pretty sure that the V6 petrol air boxes/piping are the same. although 1 of the forum legends will correct me.
Ive just ordered a K&n panel filter to try. will let you know how it goes.

    Hi.
I am a newby to the Vw Audi world of V6 technology and would like to know what you do with the air flow sensor when fitting an Induction filter as there is no way to incorporate it into the new assembly and it differs greatly to the 2.8 V6. Do i need to custom make an air duct that will accept the sensor in the flow to the inlet or is there another way?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Newby Mike.

I have an A4 95 V6 Quattro with a K&N ( I think its a K&N but definately an aftermarket air filter ) fitted to my car when purchased, Im wanting to put an original back on but need to source one first. Mine has a Pipe leading from the filter to the air flow sensor and into the throttle body it looks like the proper kit but not entirely sure, I will try to post a pic and show but yr welcome to swap for free if your interested

I cant realy say, other than unless your getting maximum air flow to your MAF or whatever other management system you have and its as cold as it can be, other wise using aftermarket air flow systems are pretty much useless imho. Unless they are motorsport developed and have been designed around the engine and its ancilliries i.e. its fitted snugly and does not interfere with other components, ive seen bodged up steel tubing used and its cable tied to anything that provided support!! If its k&n your after dont expect too much, you might gain 3-4bhp if your lucky. Just improve your exhaust system, I know it costs a hell of a lot more, BUT you will see a much more improvement and a better quality rasp ( sound ) from your exhaust.

agreed sackie, I don't like the use of open filters as they will just draw in hot engine bay air. I was curious if a freer flowing filter would improve mpg.
