I see a car whizz past me the other day and i thought(wow) i really wanted one of them when i was a kid(Lancia Delta Integralle HF Turbo with a Horman body kit)
I certainly couldnt afford one then, but now they are very accesable i thought "yeah im gunna get me one of those".However grown up reasoning set in and now im a tad more knowledgable i realise they are rot boxes and of poor italian design/quality and unless your paying £10k+ you should steer well clear.

Anyway my question is what was the car you dreamed about owning when you 1st got your ar*e parked in a car seat as a teenager but knew full well you couldnt afford to insure, but now your older it seems within your grasp?
    Pics would be nice too.

Dolly Sprint, Escort RS2000 X-pack, Triumph GT6, Vitesse Convertible, Rover P5B Coupe, Triumph Stag, there seems to be a Triumph theme emerging here , Jag XJ12 (mainly for the twin petrol tanks!!!!)

Being honest they're still cars I'd love now, but still can't afford, progress wh!!

When I passed my driving test, I had a Hillman Imp. Great little car for when I was a student, but I wanted the sport version, so when I got a job, I bought a sunbeam stiletto, so I bought one.

Mine was just like this, except it was a later version which was lower at the front.

It wasn't really practical for a 70 mile round trip every day, but I managed it, then I started working in Italy, and like the OP, I saw lots of Integrales buzzing around and wanted one of them. I then realised how much they were, so I bought a Lancia Delta HF Turbo ie, which was great. When it went rusty, I bought another one!

My first was red (exactly like the picture, but mine had headlamp wipers), the second was metallic burgundy, which was nice.

When that one went rusty, I bought a cheap mazda to last 6 months while I was buying a house and couldn't afford much - that lasted 3 years, when I fancied an Audi Coupe, so I got one of them (1989 2.2E)

Now I've got the A6, and I still fancy an Integrale. If I had £10k burning a hole in my pocket, I'd buy one just to run it for 6 months. They won't depreciate any more - it could even be an investment - some of the later ones didn't rust too badly.

There was one for sale a while ago with delivery mileage - if I won the lottery, I'd buy it, take the plastic off the seats, and drive it to work every day (sideways sometimes!)

I really must get around to scanning some of my old photos, so I could use mine rather then linking to other peoples on the web.

    Forgot to add:

I always wanted a proper Quattro (It'd have to be red)

And I always fancied a Sierra Cosworth - just to have owned one.

Before my teens, I remember my dad going fast down through the Borders into England in a '68 V4 Corsair and a '74 3.0L Ford Consul so either of those would would be, if only nice for pure nostalgia.

We always passed an orange Triumph Stag on our way into town and a tastefully updated original V8 would be sweet and probably my No:1 pick.

For many years, including my early teens, a Brown Jensen Interceptor sat next to a filling station in Aberdeen - if I recall correctly. So there's this big car, it's called an Interceptor, and after some brief enquiries it's found to have a 7.2L engine. I'm not bothered if it's brown with a vinyl or velour roof - like the car in question.

Picture if you will, the aforementioned 3.0L Ford Consul leaving a small town on a twisty section of main road. Following a 1.2L Escort or maybe a Viva, the driver is ready for the overtake that will present itself in less than a minute or so. Bam! A red wedge flies by all of us and vanishes. I can't be certain after all these years but it's either an Esprit or a Ferrari (Dino/308 or less likely a 365BB), so I'll have one of those too.

Interceptor. It's better than Insignia, Vectra, Mondeo & 3 Series, isn't it?
