My balance shaft & oil pump failed last week. I'm fitting a new one in. However, with an overhead of £700 for just this part, I wanted to know if I could get my broken one reconditioned? Anyone, know of any places?

    HI there kunaalv,

Did you have any joy at all mate with the oil pump / balancer shaft repair kit as they're nearly £1K all in from VW and also no stock in the country so very long delivery times sadly...!?

    Cheers mate,

    Mark Sadler

    Hi Mark,
Sorry to hear you've experienced the same problem. Unfortunately, you can't get a reconditioned unit so you will need a new unit. Ty calling some independant garages to see if they can resource the part, as my garage got the part from their usual supplier and that wasn't through vw. Also try eurocarparts and gsfcarparts
    Good luck!

    Hi Kunaal,

Many thanks for the info / reply mate & could you do me one last
lil favour confirm the name of your local garage & also their contact
    details also please if poss.

I will call the two car parts companies you mentioned above also
asap because VW are telling my independant garage it's £1000 for
the pump / balancer kit plus days labour to fit followed then the
worry if the engine / turbo is ok is doing my head in at the mo!

    Cheers, Mark

    Mark,
Garage is Stanbridge motors in Rugby.
Stanbridge Motors Rugby Car Service and MOT Garage

Speak to Carl and explain he sorted my car and ask who he ordered the part from. I originally had my car with VW, then got the AA to transport it to them as I've been going to them for years and trust him.

He also got a reconditioned turbo for me as that got damaged due to the oil pump failure.

    Kunaal,

Cheers for info but long & short of it is that eurocarparts and gsfcarparts had no stock and your garage Stanbridge motors in Rugby use TSP car parts and they confirmed to me earlier
it'd be £1k inc vat and not available on backorder until 13th August at earliest then sadly I'll have the labour on top plus the worry bout the engine / turbo working after also !!

So if you get a mo, can you send me a PM with your contact no on it and I'll give you a bell to discuss as would really like to know if poss how much all this cost you in the end and
also the timings involved for the fix / till you were back on the road as thinking about taking a hit on it or trading it as is maybe...!?

    Ta, Mark
