Totally agree. Most people go for 6k as that is the standard issue on most factory fit h.i.d's.

At that price I would be carefull. Not that im trying here for a sale .

I have a few friends with horror stories. Hence myself doing lots of research. Myself I purchased one of the most expensive kits around £200.00 with a discount but now as seen in my other thread im heavily involved in design/manufacture of D.R.L's. along with supplying H.ID's.
Its like cheap tyres they will work but at a cheaper price there is a compromise. Reliability/ quality of the ballast etc...

For me I was not prepared to take the gamble. I would expect to pay anything over £130 for a decent h.i.d kit and supply and fit around £250.

Ok you the outlay is greater now but how much would an E.C.U cost?

Factory HIDs are 4300k 99% of cars and not 6000k!

I had an A4 with ebay HIDs 4300k and my brother bought 6000k for his E36 and it was a massive difference. IMO oem (4300k) is much more effective than 6000k and looks much better as well.

I've done my research and a part from unlocking your ECU with VAG i didnt see any horror stories, in fact plenty ppl successfully done that mode.

On my previous audi I've done a conversion to OEM ballasts and 4300k D2S bulbs - that was the best quality conversion. Im gonna do a bit more research and see if I can find these horror stories before making a final decision. I've got a road trip at the end of march so will need to get it done before then.

    Cheers

A website that I found usefull was Hids4u. I have there ultimate kit. With uprated ballasts and a soft start. Apparently the best ballast on the market. Should be at that price

Cheers rapport25 the HIDs look very good but at £200.00

Check this guy on ebay USA - integra9006hid

He sells OEM bulbs but time to time he also gets OEM ballasts as well about 200.00 USD for a pair

I got cheap HIDs that cut out when I used full beam - cycling the lights got them going again, but it got real old, real fast.... That and I had a wiper motor failure a few days after installation - which I think is a known fault.

I got rid and fitted some Phillips bulbs instead.
