I just took my 06 A4 into get its 50k service and got a courtesy car for the day. They gave me a brand new A4 which was nice, however I really disliked the electrnoic handbrake. Perhaps they didnt tell me how to use it correctly but to disengage the handbrake I had to put my foot on the brake and push a button, and then drive off. This makes it very difficult for someone who usually gets on the biting point before releasing the handbrake.

Am I missing something? What are other peoples opinions on it?

Yes, no need to press the button. Just drive off and it will disengage automatically. You must have your seatbelt on for this to work.

That would make it MUCH easier thankfully as I was beginning to wonder what would be my next car if it werent like that!

Yes its really simple, if you have the "Hill Hold" Option this too is great for Hill Starts, no fear of rolling back, as long as you have rememberred to switch it on first lol. Once you apply the foot brake, as soon as the car reaches 0Mph it automatically applies the "hand brake" for you, if you can call it that, Once on the hill you just drive off when ready ..... Simple

Absolutely - wouldn't it be great if it were an option through VAGCOM etc if you could configure it to switch on whenever you turn on the ignition?

Mad really how little it was to add as an extra.

I just ticked the box because it was so cheap and how glad I am.

    TOY - 2001 Westfield 2.1 SEW,172bhp SOLD TO MY BROTHER, I needed a PANERAI.
HERS - 'R' New 7spd DSG and 310 rampant ones. 4.2 off the mark will do nicely

One of the best bits of the car, if only for the interior real-estate it saves. Big manual levers just don't cut it for me in a twenty-first century car.

It all sounds really positive - I will reserve judgement until I try it again now knowing how to use it!
