I have been having problems with my A6 TDI gearbox after disconnecting the MAF sensor plug.
It will jolt when i put into gear after starting (and i then in limp home mode). I was told this could be MAF telling the gearbox incorrect information (ie. i was moving when i was actually stationary)
I was able to reset this by leaving the ignition switched on for a few minutes but this no longer works. I disconnected the battery for hour and half and it did not clear the fault either so i am stumped now as the engine is in limp home mode.
I tried disconnecting the MAF plug again but it is still stuck in limp home.

No afraid not. It has been into Audi dealer already who cleared all the faults but they didn't seem to fix this issue as it is intermittent. Suddenly i cant fix it and cant really drive it in current mode.

Id try and get hold of someone with a copy, or get it yourself, cheap enough!

First thing id do is reset the tranny ecu see what happens! Or find out if there are any fault codes logged, most fault codes wont bring on the MIL, your answer may lie there!

A MIL is just the engine management light!

To reset the ecu you need vag-com, although I have read on a forum somewhere of a guy who managed to unplug his tranny ecu, left it for a while and this supposedly reset it!

Id be deffo wanting to get codes pulled though, I can gaurantee there will be a fault code logged, really need to find out what!

    OK i did it!
As i said i tried all the dodges including, this morning, reattaching the battery after 24 hours but also shorting across both cables before connecting. It made no difference.
Then i read on the MB forums about putting throttle pedal to the floor, switching on ignition for 10 seconds then switching off and leaving for two minutes.
    It worked!
    Gearbox is now working again.
Will see how it is in the morning but at least i have another "escape plan" up my sleeve.

Now i can move on to all the other little faults.
    Thanks for your input.

Here is an update - the gearbox issue returned and i had real trouble getting it out of limp mode.
A diesel mechanic would not touch it as he found a rogue wire attached to the diesel pump and decided someone had been messing around with the electronics. No charge for his time.
Bit the bullet and went back to a VW/Audi specialist who spent 50 minutes with a VAGCOM ? retuning the diesel pump and announcing it was all fixed. The pump timing was way out and the only fault code was just that. It would account for all the problems i had been experiencing.
    No charge!
I drove away and everything was fine.
I will give it a couple of days but so far i am quite impressed and frankly i prefer to pay for good service.
