I wonder if anyone can help? My Audi A6 Avant 1.9tdi 1998 has decided not to let me open the front passenger door. All the other locks are fine but no luck with pressing the fob or turning key. So far i have tried banging my hand while trying to unlock. However the main snag is removing the trim from the door whilst it's shut! As the screws are obscured. Can anybody enlighten me?

have you tried giving it a gentle push from the outside when unlocking? I know that's worked for one or two here.

I've had a similar problem but got it to unlock by repeatedly locking and unlocking using the button on the drivers door.

Yep, spread the load using both hands at the edge of the door by the lock and push the door firmly, ideally a shorp short pulse. If the door did not close properly the latch can hang up. Regards Peter

Lock of front passenger door can fail. According to J.A., the fix is to remove 3 screws that hold the door trim on, then remove or stick back the sound insulation inside the door to the outer door skin, making sure that none is jammed in the lock mechanism. In 95% of cases the door lock will now lock and un lock on demand. Total cost 15 minutes time.
