Ticking noise on Mk5 GT TDI

Just been and picked the car up this morning its a 55 plate Golf GT TDI. Liking it so far it drives well, decent amount of poke and this one has leather interior too so its comfy enough for me.

Just got one little problem though when the cars warmed up it makes a clicking noise a bit like someone turning a ratchet around if that makes sense? Its engine speed related although it seems to speed up a tiny bit when you dip the clutch

Any ideas?

very nice car you have there mate and welcome to the site, have you looked under the bonnet and if so roughly what area is the noise in? tbh it could be anything from the alturnator pulley to something in the bellhousing, if you can record it and post it up

Before the throttle body gave up on mine it make a clicking/ticking noise. Did this for best part of a week, then when it finally went the emissions light came on.

I just sold my Passat and bought a 150 pd gt tdi golf on Friday (love it - must get pictures up..) and it too has this noise.

If its a 150 then you have a MK 4 GT TDi and the 150 is renowned for hi camshaft wear!!! Very costly to fix as well

As far as I've read about 1500+ to fix. As for proper diagnosis PM crasher, he is the expert for all things engine related.

before you change anything eles take a look at your alternator. see if thats turning proply. or is the belt flapping.
