Apologies if there is one already but I have searched and couldn't find it.

I want to take my parcel shelf out of my A4 2006 2.0 TDi Saloon. I have tried this before and took the headrests out but when taking the headrest guides (sorry do not know what they are called but they are the plastic things the headrests slide in) I snapped two of them so gave up. Is there an easy way of doing this? Oh, I have leather seats if this make a difference?

    Many thanks

    Dave

My speakers are now rattling really bad, I cant turn the sound up because the parcel shelf rattles so much.

Can anyone tell me how to take the parcel shelf off easily?

Also, what is the black square box next to the speaker on the parcel shelf as it is this making all the rattles, is it the sub? If so could this be blown and how would I tell? The car and speakers are under warranty still but if its not a technical fault ie the parcel shelf is loose then its not covered. Audi want £120 just to take it in and diagnose the problem, if it turns out the parcel shelf is loose I will be out of pocket.

    I have a 2006 A4 saloon.
The black square box is indeed the subwoofer. I think it's easily accessible from the boot - might be that the normal speakers are too.
Are you sure it's the parcel shelf that's rattling? I would have thought it's too big and heavy for a speaker to make it rattle the way you describe.
I'd suspect it to be the speakers.
From the boot you can see the speakers - I haven't checked but I think they might unscrew from within the boot and drop down and the parcel shelf isn't removed at all.

    Hey mate,

Thanks for the reply. You can access the speaker from the boot but not the sub as it's an all in one metal shelf that it is mounted on. The only thing you can access is the mounting bolt.

It is indeed the parcel shelf rattling as I have just been in the back whilst the stereo was on and I can stop the rattle by pressing the parcel shelf down. It seems to be very loose around the back off side but I cant access the underside from the boot so not sure what is holding it down.

The grill on top of the shelf was also rattling as that stopped when I pressed it too.

I think I need to take the parcel shelf off and no nails it down or something, its ruining my car. I may take it to an audio specialist to look at as I am sure that my Audi isn't the only one that's been put together by umpalumpas!

Just take the back seat out and then the shelf is reasonably easy to get out

The problem IS getting the back seat out. Mine don't fold down and I cant seem to remove the housings for the headrests without snapping them.
