I understand there is no such thing as black edition wheel weights. Its just a shame that so much time and money is pumped in to design and styling then they go an do something bloody stupid like this. And yes it does bother me, I've spent a lot of money and want the car to look tip top. From what you say apparently there may be some people on the forum that may not be bothered about what there car looks like - each to their own i suppose.

Getting them rebalanced is just what the dealer will be doing.

Those are exactly the same colour weights as were applied to my black-painted wheels. It irked me when I saw them but they are there for a purpose and I never conceived that wheel weights might be available in multiple colours. It's just a more functional part of the car.

Do you think the dealer will find a wheel balancing service that stocks colour-coordinated weights? I am not sanguine.

you can get pretty well any colour you want. most garages will just stock plain ones though.. you could ask them to order some in, or even just get your own and swop them over.

Andy, whilst my previous post was entirely tongue-in-cheek, I can't help but think you've either got an "eagle eye" for detail and made it a specific term of your deal, or you have an extremely understanding dealer who recognises the potential of your continuing relationship.

There are aspects of my own car which aren't exactly as I would have liked, but which I accept as being typical of similar cars (A6 C7) but which are inferior to my previous experience of new Audis. I shalln't for example be asking my dealer to ensure the 12V accessory power remains on permanently as in my test drive I didn't realise it turns off automatically. Complementary/sympathetic balance weights, preferably hidden, are nice to have but not on my "deal breaker" list like perforated leather seats or piping would be.

Whilst you undoubtedly have expectations, as is everyones' entitlement, and I wish you well in reaching a satisfactory conclusion; I think you'll get the same response (under the dealer's breath) as if I were to ask George Osborne to help me with my Tax Return. I haven't asked him yet, so I can't be sure...

Please take my previous response with a humorous pinch of salt, but I'm unable to offer anything more constructive than a genuine "Good Luck". They will get camouflaged by road film in time.

I have used gloss black on my powdercoated wheels for the last 3.5yrs.

Annoyingly when a place is balancing them they don't give me a discount for supplying my own

If you find a good wheel specialist, they can balance them so they are hidden by the spokes. The machine can alter the weights required so the ones nearest the outside edge are hidden.

I have been using the same dealer for 20 years - would not hesitate to recommend them.

Between you and me I wouldn't trust George Osbourne to run a bath let alone my numbers....

Not too sound harsh but my advice would be get out more often - really losing sleep over wheel weights is a new one to me. After a few hundred miles the wheels get dirty and you can't see them until you clean the wheels again

Await the first time you kerb the things
