HI
Im new to vag-com software ive just got my interface from gendan and downloaded the 409.1 shareware from ross tech. Now do i need to input car details on it or should it find it by its self? Ive pluged it in to the car and turned it on and was not sure of what i should do next so turned it all off and came here for some advice. :1zhelp::1zhelp:

What type of connector is it? USB?

The car HAS to be set on ignition, make sure the key is turned and lights on dash board are on, then you may use the cable. It does not matter if you have the cable in or off, just make sure the key is set on ignition. You may also read data off the car while it is running, this may vary on the cheap cable.

Ok so ive just had it on my car with key is set on ignition and tryed to scan the engine but i keep getting a popup say
(NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROLLER) so i tryed brakes but it was the same to
(NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROLLER)
UPDATE!!!!!
Ive just got it working found it was set to COM5 now set to COM2

Thats the code VAG-COM is giving me.
Im not sure if there is something missing from the end off it ^^^^^
The car has only gone in to limp mode 5 times the last time was when i cleared code with VAG-COM.
See it only started after i ran the car with REDEX DIESEL FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER could this have started it?
You only need the 17965 code as info. You have oveboost which can be the MAP sensor, N75 valve but is usually stuck turbo vanes that need cleaning. Use of redex is probably a coincidence.

MAP sensor not sure where it is?
Same with N75 valve not to sure about?
I think its time i got an Haynes Manual.
Do a search in the passat b5 section for turbo problems. You will find threads with pictures.
