Michael Jackson has died in hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack, website TMZ has reported.
The ambulance suspected to be Jackson's outside UCLA hospital - Picture TMZ
Jackson, 50, suffered a heart attack just after 12.00pm local time (19.00pm GMT) and paramedics were unable to revive him, TMZ.com said.
When paramedics arrived at his house he was not breathing, LA fire department captain Steve Ruda told the LA Times newspaper.
Jackson was given CPR by fire department paramedics as he was taken to UCLA Medical Center, the LA Times said.
Steve Hargrave, Sky's entertainment correspondent, said: "TMZ is a website which goes out of its way to get there first but many of their stories over the years have turned out to be true - particularly with stories from LA.
"You can only imagine the impact of this around the world."
Jackson manager was not unavailable for comment and officials at UCLA Medical Center where he was treated could also not be reached.
Sky's US correspondent Greg Milam said: "Clearly he was very seriously ill - we can gather that from what his father and other family members said.
"One member of the family had told the TMZ website that Michael is in "really bad shape" and that the brothers were heading for the hospital.
"His father said he wasn't sure exactly what was wrong and was waiting to hear back.
"One can only imagine what it could be like for his family in such circumstances."
Jackson had been about to embark on a comeback, performing 50 concerts at London's O2 Arena.
The concerts had been due to start the concerts on July 13.
He had been rehearsing in the Los Angeles area for the London shows, which sold out within hours of within hours of going on sale in March.

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
such a sad, sudden and untimely loss to the world. I for one am privaleged to say that i grew up listening to MJ music as a child and am proud to say that i experienced the best years of his musical life although i never saw him live. The gravitass of this loss can only be understood by those who were there when Lennon and Elvis left us. The next recent global figure to have passed away certainly in my life time is Diana. I know where i was when she died and i'll know where i was when MJ died.
RIP

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
Some of you may get upset with this.
But what has Michael Jackson ever done apart from record a few songs
& become a modern day elephant man.
People young and old die everyday. Some will have done more for there
neighbours, communities or countries without any thought to themselves,
who will not receive the recognition or gratitude they deserve.
I can only think of a handful that deserve national mourning & Diana is not
one of those, Churchill was.
When it comes to international mourning the list is even shorter & no pop star
should be on it only the likes of Mother Teresa & Gandhi.
Have never understood why people get hysterical when somebody dies
that they do not know or have never met.
It all gets a bit beyond me.

I find it amazing how there is such a hysteria about paedophiles yet there are such double standards evident, if like me, you believe he was guilty of what he was accused of.
Sad really, there was no disputing his tallents.

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
Perhaps when some of you have age and life's experiences behind you will have more respect when someone dies. If you didn't like Michael Jackson just don't post!!
-
Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
I have thanks, I took Pon's post as a an attempt to put things in perspective rather than an attack on Michael Jackson. This isn't a eulogy to him, it's a discussion.
What put things in perspective for me was when Diana died it completely over-shadowed the death of Mother Theresa, someone I thought did far more than Diana, relatively speaking.

I did choose not to take that route with my little rant. But I also think he was guilty.

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
I find it quite sad looking at his early stuff, it's clear to see how talented he was and yet look how it all ended. It seems there were a few people who clung on to him and didn't do him any favours but he didn't help himself either at times with the way he behaved.

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
I find it sad that we have also lost another well known person - Farrah Fawcett.
May they both rest in peace and best wishes to their families.
-
Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
I'm just mourning a great musician who has died and the fact that three children have lost a father. I personally don't give a **** whether anyone thinks he was a peadophile or not. I don't think he was. There again I don't read the tabloids.

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
A farewell good bye to the KING of pop. He was disliked by many BUT loved by billions.
He was a true king of pop and produced some quality music/dances over the years.
I loved him then and will not forget the 'moonwalker' ever.
May your soul rest in peace Michael.

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
Reading the paper this morning, it appears he died just after being given an injection of pain killers.....
What about the lady that died at the same time.... after a long battle with cancer... Farrah Fawcett Major she was demoted to page 6ish...

As sad as any death or loss is, i have to agree with you. I think the thing that sickens me the most is the 2 faced hypocrits that you get in the media and indeed the public.
Only a few months ago you couldn't turn on the tv without someone slating him for being a weirdo or a paedo and now he's the biggest loss the world has seen for a long time?
The guy was obviously an entertainer but i can't see what all the fuss is about. I suppose if anything i feel sorry for him having been essentially brought up by a record company and probably missing out on being a kid, but there are many people more influential than him out there that have passed on and not been recognized. That said, R.I.P.

i have never heard of her until she died, let alone could name any of her work, i couldn't even of given her profession. She is in a different league to MJ. A far lower one.
MJ has affected far more people with his music than the minorities he is alleged to of upset. So if you can't speak positive then don't contribute.

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
It's a free world my friend and i can't see that anyone has said anything out of order.

Now Now Ben..... If you were in my age group you would know who she was.... I am sure you have heard of Charlies Angels.... it is still being shown on TV on occasions now...
But Lets not get this thread out of hand....... and turn it into a slanging match;)
I have my opinions on MJ, but they are not for the forum....

Now then there's no need to be like that...;) I have an awful lot of respect for Michael Jackson and personally never believed the bad press about him. I only mentioned that sadly Farrah Fawcett also died yesterday.
As I said, I hope both of them rest in peace.

The internet came alive like never before as people around the world logged on to follow the stunning news of Michael Jackson's death.
The story created such a surge in online traffic that Google returned an 'error message' for searches of the singer's name as it assumed it was under attack.
And just seconds after the story broke on the American entertainment website TMZ.com, messages or 'Tweets' about the singer on the micro-blogging site Twitter doubled, leading to a temporary shutdown of the site.

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
If you cant say anything nice...... Mouth before brain. Does anyone think that his pain-killer addiction caught up with him? said on the news he was at it since 1993.

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
I just wish his family and friends all the best. It is they who were close to Jackson. I will not "mourn" him so to speak... I don't believe I can as I didn't know him personally.
Personally I don't think he was a paedophile or whatever. I have my reasons for thinking that but not everyone will agree so I'll keep them to myself.
He also changed the life of many, by donating and raising millions for charity. I think if anyone needed any proof he is a "decent man" then they needn't look any further.

Re: ## Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died' ##
The latest news on Michael is that Jordi Chandler, the kid who got 22 mill, is now saying M.J. did not touch him. That it was a con by his dad. So hopefully this will shut up the paed slur. Now i will admit that other people like Mother Teresa deserve way more coverage on her death than she got, but Michael Jackson is one of the greatest musicians of all time. He entertained us when we felt down, we danced (or tried to) like he did, and someome who was their in the early days, wanted to have the Miachael Jackson afro. Also when he went wet look, me and millions of other men sat in a hairdresser with a stack of chemicals and curlers on our head.(I'm now bald)
He influenced a generation. Everyone wanted to be like Mike.
So he deserved all the acculades he's getting right now because he was one of the greatest entertainers of all time, and we all need people to make us happy.
The 50 gigs at the O2 may have been a way to have him die at the forefront of the world's mind but who cares.
He definately did some weird things that I did not agree with but anyone who gets that big in a medium that the world watches has to get major props when he dies in my opinion.
So I will say Rest In Peace Michael. You entertained me more than any star.
