I must admit, though not a diesel my 2 litre petrol sounds good when you get the rpm up a tad. Mind you my car for summer weekends has a very infectious sound worth turning the volume up IMHO!
I have the original cassette player in, but intend to fit a CD player, though this is only because the current unit is not RDS. Who needs music with a symphony of 8 behind your head ;)
I'm not sure if this applies to your diesel or not, anyway, it will probably drown the noise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P16T2mBSWz0

Now this sounds good and it's the equivalent of Hi-Fi in 1941. None of this stereofied rubbish that takes out the crackles and a lot more from the song. I give you, "Bud Flanagan and Chesney Allen", who did their bit to help beat Hitler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHGjfXE08FM
...and we have the acclaimed "Run Rabbit Run", first released in 1936: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeZUL...elated&search=
Later on the words were changed to "Run Adolph, run Adolph, run, run run".
Bud Flanagan was known for his singing in the show "Dads' Army", where the words were adjusted for war time Britain.

Excuse this one as I could not resist posting it, goes back to around 1925 and is on the then well known "Woolworth" label, shortly after Marks and Spencer changed their name from the "Penny Bazaar": A bit crackly because its about 85 years old in this 78 recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jdn8...elated&search=

They're from Peaslake, Surrey for those who like it. I think the song is about asking the missus to tape your favourite TV program casue you out enjoying your motor!!

The video itself is very good, with the usual buts. Having followed guitarists since the early days of the Great, Chet Atkins and others, I must say their efforts were extremely amateurist. So, it's a case of lots more hard work needed to get there and six hours a day, 7-days-a-week, isn't too much.
Here is " Chet Atkins " from the 1950's and 60's:

Well, I was spoilt as a child when it comes to guitarists. My first ever concert was Chris Rea's Road to Hell tour at the NEC and i've been a strugling amatuer guitarist myself ever since! It's still nice to hear songs about everyday stuff though. Some of the 60's songs get far to philosophical sometimes.
Hi jp_paul, Here is " Road to Hell " by the philosophical man himself. I don't think anyone is a struggling amateur guitarist, as playing it well and stamping yourself on the way you play is more important. "Jim Low", see post No 4, is a person who loves what he plays and visits every place and stays there a while, and then writes a song. Good Luck.

after telling my wife that it's not compatable with my ipod, then under the threat of having my priveledges removed (no more stew and dumplings), then I have just downloaded "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" by "The Andrews Sisters".
