Cherry Bomb Exhaust.. To buy or not to buy..???
I guess most of you will have heard of the Cherry Bomb style exhaust, but I have only recently come across them. I was helping in a brake test on a BMW M3 Evo, and asked if there was anyway to make my car's exhaust sound remotely similar, my mate said I should try fitting a Cherry Bomb..
Has anyone ever had one in the past? What do they actually sound like? ANY advice/comments would be MUCH appreciated!!!

I'm just wondering what it would sound like on a little 1.4l hatchback, seeing as they're really made for big American muscle car..

Re: Cherry Bomb Exhaust.. To buy or not to buy..???
I take it then it would sound too loud, which is what I feared as I didn't want anything that would not suit my car, and did not want to sound like those chav's with a 'universal Jap style' backbox.. O-well.

Wait till you've got a car with a proper engine before you start worrying about engine note coming out the pipe at the back lad. I'd recommend a nice throatful v8 ;)

Re: Cherry Bomb Exhaust.. To buy or not to buy..???
Try taking a straight-through exhaust on the motorway.
I had twin zoom tubes on my old Bug. Sounded great around the town and in tunnels but they droned like hell on the motorway.

cherry bombs exhausts are for the 17 yr old lads accross the counrty that love to wake the neibours up as they park up on a saturday night after a cruise.
If you want something to make your car sound like an M3.... Your gonna have to buy an M3.

That is probably what has happened already..exhaust it makeshift. Could not afford brand spankin' new Magnex backbox, so took off old backbox and put a straight piece of exhaust pipe from the centre box (had to keep that in to save my ears) to the back of the car with a lovely stainless steel twin tip on the end.. Sounds awesome for £20!!

Yup, do it for you, not what other people say.
Your car, your (styling) rules

Yeh okay I see what you mean.. Only asked in the first place because money's tight and I do not have about £50 to throw away so I hope you understand that.. :)

Sorry can't do much about the money, it is difficult with something like that because if you don't like it the best you can do is then sell it on Ebay but making a slight loss.
I love the sound of a good sports exhaust though.

Re: Cherry Bomb Exhaust.. To buy or not to buy..???
And I guess actually it was a little 'pointless' (but thanks for the feedback anyway!!!..) in posting this thread as everyone has different tastes, even when it comes to the sound of your exhaust..
In the end I've decided not to buy it anyway, after looking at videos on YouTube, I think the exhaust might raise the pitch a bit which is not what I am looking for..
Thanks to all who posted though!! Cheers hereketty, golfmk5gttdi, mark2500, mycarsavw, bora(ing) nick, MalcQV, and RickT :D

Yeh.. I guess that is inevitable with most (if not all mods..). Well CHEERS again guys, it's always good to have a set of straight-minded-opinionists (like there is such thing) to set a guy straight!!! :beerchug:
