I saw a few posts on the A4 forum. Apparently Audi don't have a system to handle the renewals yet so they're doing it for free!
I think someone got an extra 12m after emailing service@audi.de

I rang up Audi UK and asked if I could have a longer 'trial' period. 2 days later they rang me back to say they have given me another 12 months worth ;)

I wonder if the embedded sim makes a difference as you could pay them to reactivate that which in turn reactivates all connect / SOS features etc?

Well I spoke to a very nice man who confirmed that I am qualified for a further 12 month trial period and this will be actioned next week.

Will be interesting to see what happens in December. I've bought a Sept 15 car, which I'm guessing has had 3 months + the extra 12 already used. The myAudi portal says the license will expire this December. I would definitely be interested in renewing it (even at a cost)

Well last night 'ONLINE' appeared out of the blue and bingo all connect services and GE are back.
Then this afternoon I received a call form the very nice man at Audi UK telling me my trial period for Connect Services is extended for a further 12 months from today.

Pitch. How did you activate the trial and how long did it take to activate the trial when you picked up the car? Getting mine on Friday and wondering when I should register for the trial as I think satyp said that when he registered his vin on my audi it automatically kicked off his trial of Audi connect

Connect worked straight out the box for me once I had the SIM popped in the dash which I am guessing you will n need.

This "trial" extension will be around for the foreseeable future. There's actually a few legal issues around the website and the interface is would use to tale payment for these renewals etc over in Germany. This is due to the fact, the car can have and embedded sim or take an external sim. So there's issues with the family t that audi have essentially made it that they want you to pay for internet access in your car even if you're using your own external sim.
Without an active Audi Connect subscription, you wouldn't have internet access in the car regardless of your data source. This has become a sticking point. (monopoly issues?)
Ironically the 4L Q7 didn't have this limitation. You stuck a sim in, and off you went. End of.

Called AudiUK yesterday at 5:00pm and 4:40pm today I am all fully licensed up once again for 12 months FOC.
All connect services a gooey maps up again,.

Has anyone managed to get license extended before it actually expired? My car has just started warning me the license is going to expire on 22/12/17, but I would really like to be able to use the services over the Christmas period with traveling to various relatives on unfamiliar roads etc.
I reckon you can just call Audi UK and they will do it. Just explain the situ. Got nothing to lose?Quote:

Anyone done this recently? My warning popped up today as it expires 20th May. It directed me to MyAudi website but when I logged in, it just refers me to the dealer! I can only assume Audi don’t have an online shopping capability?

You are very lucky being in the UK, at least on this front. Here in the USA, Audi supply a miserly three months of Audi Connect for free with a new car, then they start charging you. An eighteen month extension costs $450. Enjoy your free extensions and feel gleefully smug that you get them! :)

Just to confirm, for the benefit of other readers, my UK car is coming up to it's third birthday - I too phoned 0800 336337 Audi Customer Services, and they renewed all the Audi Connect licences for a further 12 months, free of charge. Thanks for the information on this.
Well, another year has passed!
For the last few weeks, the car has been flashing up with a message saying the services are due to expire on 30th Sept ( the 4th anniversary of buying it )
I called Audi UK on 0800 336337 to ask them to extend it, and whilst I was on he extended everything for another 12 months FOC
Just for info, in case anyone else is experiencing this
