You need a code off the battery or something to put into vcds so the car charges the battery different.
Have you activated the battery meter in the mmi?
picking up my Q7 tomorrow and the dealer has just fitted a new battery and had to code it to the car so will find out more then
Thanks for responding, I've only only got autel vag 505 that only reads codes. I wonder if it broke down and is fitted by RAC would they have the computer, I didn't know there's a battery meter on the mmi, get the wife to have a look tomorrow, thanks again

It needs to be activated to find it.
Have a nosey here, stemei.de .VCDS Codierungen .Codierungsservice .Webdesign - Stefan Meier - Audi A6 4F - VCDS Codierungen, Webdesign if yours is 2g mmi look more at the a64f but if it is 3q read the q7 bits.
yikes! I didn't know you have to activate the battery reading on the MMI. No wonder i can't seem to find the battery meter.
How can you do this - activation that is?
Also, I'm trying to figure out how to display the trip meter (fuel consumption etc) on my dashboard. Right now it's only showing the suspension setting and I can't figure out the MMI.
Cheers
not had the q7 24 hours all seemed fine when i picked it up but went out to start the car today and battery is flat now waiting for the dealer to turn up not very happy
Not good hope they sort it quick

lets hope so as its a great car, just seems funny that he said it had to have a new battery as the old one was no good and that it went flat so quickly makes me think that they didnt put a new one in but just charged the old one hoping it would last. its now gone back to audi to see whats up
It's in the best place for diagnosis I suppose, and they have to use genuine parts

been looking and it seems it has to have an AMG battery think he was trying to get away with just charging it up so its going to cost him, plus i phoned the old owner who had had the car from new who told me the car is good and that he didnt use it except to pull his caravan once a year to scotland and back. he said he had to jump start the car to get it to the deales to px it for his new A6 allroader
found a 2amp draw on the battery from a module in the car but not sure which won so still checking
I fitted a new battery in my Q7 around december time from halfords....
Never coded it and the cars seems fine?
Thanks man... I might just fit in a new battery and not code it. Hopefully things won't break.
had the car 5 weeks now,day after i picked it up it had a flat battery.dealer pick it up and it spent 5 days at audi, they found that a module was firing up when switched off and was draining the battery, had softwere update and all seemed fine for 2 weeks. then last week got in the car after work and it wouldnt start, flat battery again. while waiting for RAC and sitting in the car i noticed the lights on the dash kept coming on esp/glow plus/ air bag, for a few seconds and clicking on and off for about 10 mins until the RAc turned up, i showed him but he put it down to the flat battery. had the car back to audi on monday and they found no faults. took the car home and tuesday morning flat again. Rac came out, jump stated me and now the car is back at dealer any one had this or no what to do, but if audi cant fix it its going back and i wont my money back or another car
Did you fixed it yet a4constu?
How to do?
Thanks
car went back to audi and could not find a fault with the car and didnt know what to look for. just by luck they noticed the suspension had moved when parked so they check it and found it was going up and down when parked and said the compressor was coming on and off when parked to maintain the ride hight. well it was all fixed new air bag front n/s leg/battery plus some other bits and bobs grand total £1500.that took a week to fix. had the car back 4 weeks and all was fine. then the battery went flat again last thursday. car went into audi on friday morning and is still there today monday morning so over a week. i will phone them later to see what is happening and if they have sorted it. i told them to fix it and if they cant dont waste there time or mine and they can have it back.will let you know how i get on
update...... have spoken to audi and the dash is fried and a whole new one needs fitting, none in the country and on back order from europe 7 -10 week wait car was shutting down but after 3-4 hours was coming back on on its own which was making the battery go flat
There's a battery meter? 😕?? Is that only available via a VCDS mod?

Yes you need to activate the hidden menu and turn it on.
If I were you, I'd refuse the fix and insist on audi finding you a car of like to like spec and age. Regardless of whether it'll cost more than what you originally paid. There is am endless amount of inconvenience caused to you. You could even argue loss of revenue from all your trips to Audi, and even your inability drive your daily car, which eg your wife now has to drive to work since your family is down to o ly one car.
Furthermore, you can state that you have categorically lost your faith and confidence on that car. You don't want risk driving it or having your family in it after so much major work and mechanical failure.
If you want I can PM you the contact details of the Audi UK Customer Relations Director and Brand Standards Officer for Audi UK.
I had a nightmare with my first Q7. I bought a 2 year old one, but it had so many gremlins. Added to the fact the salesman that sold it to me at Audi Glasgow basically misold it to me: It was at Audi Southampton at the time, I naively test drove an "exactly similar one" here in Glasgow, that he said had all the specs I wanted, just a different colour. I believed! After all why should I not have faith in the integrity of an Audi UK employee. He did the whole "someone else can buy the car if we don't get the paperwork signed asap. There's no reason. To wait for car in the flesh. "
I stupidly believed him and paid deposit and signed the purchase. A week later, the car arrived, and it was NOT what I wanted or been told I would get. Luckily, I had emails between us confirming everything he'd claimed of the car.
In the midst of the excitement of getting it, it was only when I got home that the missing features jumped at me: memory package, Bose, sidesteps, mmi 3g high, ACC. Smart key.
I called the salesman- Fobbed me off basically. Called and emailed his boss - same sketch.
Emailed the Manager of the entire branch - still nothing. Gave me stories about "nothing they could do beyond fitting sidesteps." So I went directly audi UK HQ.
The lady I'm talking about from Audi UK facilitated the return of car, and because they couldn't find one, I was allowed to configure one and got it brand new! Even though by doing so, I got given a car that is actually worth £12,000.00 more than what I paid for!
You simply need to be stubborn but respectful, you'll get what you want!

still waiting for the part to turn up,turns out its the dash control unit, which is the part with the air con and heated seats controls on it, everything goes to that and it is telling all the control modules to come back on after 3 to 4 hours after turning the car off which is causing the battery to drian so iv give them one last chance to fix it....will let you know how i get on
had the car back 2 days now and all seems fine. had new dash control unit/ecu fitted cost over £1200 without vat,so far they have spent £4000 trying to sort the car out, just glad i aint paying, will let you know how it goes
