O/S/F alloy kerbed

Well, the wife has officially had the A6 for 5 minutes and thats the o/s/f alloy kerbed ( badly!! ) :zx11::zx11:

Seriously, we've only lived here for like 14 years and the kerbs always been there, hasn't moved or aanything....jeeeeesh!

Not happy to say the least

She tells me it was an accident, no I say, an accident is something uncontrollable, it was just careless

Anyway, its done and I've vented but honestly, no need for it

Going to have to get it fixed as its going to bug the life outta me now....lol

I feel your pain mate, my wife has destroyed all of my alloys and both rear quarters:eek:

Ouch... We've all been there unfortunately! I've been guilty myself as well :(
Least they were done recently so should match up pretty well by just refurbing the one...

Not only a wheel!
Now one wheel will be fixed and will look out of place compared to the other 3 and spare
Just not on!

I've had mine redone 4-5 times now since owning the car but thankfully 2014 so far has been kerb-free. Normally get it done @ Wheel Worx I think they're called near Gatwick who have always done a brilliant job and all within a day

So everytime you used a touchup pen or got a scrape you would respray the whole car or if you caused some swirl marks while washing you'd DA it every wash?

I can't answer the first but but yes, every time I get swirl marks which is extremely rare as I always dual bucket wash myself then I will get the DA out.

Same goes for my socks if one gets discoloured, or my shirts. I treat the car the same :- ) Hate it when it's nice and sunny and all you see is a pristine car with swirl marks bouncing off the bonnet!

On a car I drive 100 miles a day I see no point in treating it like a show car, if I wanted a show car I'd buy one and would never leave my garage.

Yes its nice keeping it clean and in good condition but on a daily driver which sees A/B roads and motorways I can't see the point babying it :)

If raining, it stays dirty like today but last week with no rain, it had a wipe daily during lunch break. Kept me away from the junk food and got some calories burned at the same time

No, I find it difficult to take it that easy .....that same easy osy attitude " oh well" usually means many more issues / damages that could have easily been avoided.
I just find it negligent on most occasions tbh

I'm far from perfect myself but beat myself up a lot more on the rare occurences that they happen.

Agreed Akash, its not only a wheel, its the slippery slope to another wheel, a door ding, a scratch here n there and a banger before you know it...lol

A car with a damaged alloy or a wheeltrim missing to me, is like a wounded dolphin / whale, with the sharks circling to move in for the kill...lol

To be honest, even with older cars I try and keep them the best they can be, ok so not quite to the same standard, but I wouldn't abuse it or just leave it to get filthy with wheel trims missing etc etc.

As stated..........we're all different with differing standards and attitudes..........thats life


In all honesty, its the fact that its been kept in good condition for so long, then 5 minutes later ( backing out the drive for gods sake ) its kerbed due to carelessness, then there's a "oh well, never mind" attitude.

It just takes the Mick is all and really winds me up, as mostly there's no need for it

Mrs EG also has spatial awareness issues. All 16 of the alloys in our household (winters included) are scarred. I'm living with them until sale time. :rolleyes:

On top of that, my 18 YO son is now driving the A2 and the short wall at the rather wide entrance to our drive - with the top painted bright white - has recently come into contact with the plastic sill. Thankfully no damage to the aluminum bodywork.

Just buy her some horrid garish wheels or some steelies, she would soon respect the nice wheels.

At least you didn't take the wheel off to clean it and then drop it down some concrete steps....... Like I did!

Oooops........feel your pain!

But according to the stats they are, based on million miles driven, far safer than us blokes.

However as I said on Bops 'ouch' thread most of the damage they cause doesn't go through insurance, but feel sure if it did 'der wimmin' would be paying much more!

Hey at least we make em pay for the damages they cause...cos we're not so soft as to let them get away with it...and if they have to pay they'll be more careful in future.

If not try taking some coarse sandpaper to their fave shoes and tell them it was an accident! :)

I see it this way, I buy a car as transport, I'm a bit of a petrol head so i like ones that can go fast and handle well, or at least interestingly (if thats a word). I have a 2005 A6 Avant 3.0 TDI quattro tiptronic. I had to give back my Range Rover sport when I changed jobs (nice car, but it was the family bus - not really fun) so i got the Audi while I wait for my BMW X5 to arrive (this will also be the family bus, but much cleaner than the RRS) The wife has a Fiat 500 Abarth with 180 BHP and paddle shift. Thats a fun car, a real hoot - not very practical. My Ducati gets to 60 in less than 2 seconds, and will do almost 200mph - ultimate adrenaline rush. But all of these are MY slaves. I am not a slave to my car. Yes I keep them clean, get them serviced, make sure they are safe etc, (My 20 year old daughter drives the Audi now she has a full license - source of many scrapes). If they get damaged in daily use - well as long as the passengers are safe, so what? thats what they are for no? its not like they are appreciating classics or anything like that - even then, cars were built to be driven, not put on display!

Not so fast! Audi will go when BMW (company car - it's still worth it where I live) arrives. Ducati is 8 years old. And yes I got 8 o levels and an HNC...:-p

Yes R5 gordini turbo etc. great fun.

Had a Spitfire for a while which also left a smile on my face.

I like the Audi cos it's quick, handles well and so far is reliable (KoW). But it's a bus. As was the RRS. It has changed my view on German cars however!

I was taught to look after my belongings and treat them with care and respect their value, I'm not a slave to my cars, I'm simply passionate about them and keeping them well serviced and looking as good as they can.

If they're damaged, so what isn't that what they are there for? I'm sorry but I really can't comprehend that attitude, not even close.....but we are all different.

My point exactly.....I drive my car every day, sometimes just cruising around, sometimes really get the foot down and have a blast.
On business sometimes I have to take my car into a quarry, yes a quarry of all things......They're like a dustbowl in spring / summer and like a mud pit in autumn / winter.....the entry roads are often like something out of an apocalypse.

Yet I do what I have to do and still try to keep my car in the best order possible.......

Nothing at all. I agree though don't be a total slave to it. I now have 3 dings, 2 on rear door and 1 on drivers door. Dent devils can't get to them due to reinforcing, ad I know it has to go in the body shop but I'm loathe to do it, because sure as faith, just after I do it it will get dinged in a supermarket car park again!
I do like a clean, shining car, but our weather does not!

Yes, they are, and nearly all have the attribute that the car is a thing that goes when you put the key in. Plus, Oh I forgot to tell you it is making a funny noise since last week seems to be common phrase. I will hide now I case this goes viral.

I completely agree jim, since fitting my new alloys a few weeks ago she has curbed both from and rear drivers side wheels :banghead::banghead::banghead:
Not to mention the smashed in passenger side rear door/arch and drivers rear bumper/ arch.
I' m giving up for now and leaving her to it. Once our finances are settled down latter this year we'll get her her own car to xxxx up instead of mine

Hmmm same mold then I'm afraid.

When I asked her about the 1st alloy that happened outside our house ( she reverses out towards a parked car ** she has reversing sensors!! ) then full lock and onto the road, no issues.....I've done it a million times )...her reply was.

I thought I was going to hit the car so I stopped.
I asked her about clearing the kerb.....she replies, I thought I could make it:dunno:
I said....well, what do you think now??

If in ANY doubt, stop, reverse back a little and then go again when you're sure, says I

Yes, you're right......you were running around in a 13 year old battered and bruised Renault Clio when we met, that barely made it from mot to mot, let alone from A to B
Maybe we should sell the Audi whilst we can still get some money for it and get you back into that Clio?
