Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
If it's the oil level light it should be ok until you get it checked, oil pressure is more serious
Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
So ill be ok to drive it for a while ? its going in for a service within the next couple of weeks.
Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
Can you get someone to scan it with VCDS? It could be the level sensor, or bonnet switch. If it's oil pressure its a tow job
Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
Had a scan last night and the only thing that popped up was a door lock back in December as intermittent. It's deffo not pressure just level.
Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
well as you know there's plenty of oil I'd drive it, check the level every day for a day or 2

Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
Driving 15 miles with little or no oil pressure would've bought up at least an increase in engine temperature
The oil pressure sender, on a 2L tFSI, is on top of the oil filter (8) Worth checking your connection there is good and not iced up?
You don't say what engine you've got?
There's no check for oil pressure in VCDS as there's no sender on the engine

Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
When you open the bonnet, does the warning illuminate on the cars MFD ?
I take it this is the amber check warnng light and not the flashing red light ?
Make sure you take the key out of ignition, open bonnet, close bonnet and recheck as the car will be looking for all of thses things in relation to switch conditions.
Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
So after getting the inside of the car so hot my eyeballs couldn't take it this seems to have fixed the issue... Will drop it in with the ******** for a check up later this month.
Stupid cold weather.
Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
Hi i had same issue on my 2007 a4 2.0 170 bhp low oil light on (orange) oil was new and full ( MAKE SURE IT IS FULL) !!! easy order to fix
1: look at fuse 5 10amp make sure not blown( or goin bad / brown inside replace with good one)
2:open bonnet sray degreaser all around bonnet lach and use small swrewdriver and paper cloth clean ALL dirt an muck off even push lach into closed possion to get to other areas when fully cleaned spray with some sillicon lube or penatrating spray wd40 all latch( i came to the thought that maybe the latch contact links in with the sensors earth circuit ) there for dirt wont let it contact breakin the loop.
If not cured it
3: dissconect batt poss and neg for 20 mins to force computer into reboot
4: take out oil level sensor clean with elec contact spray replace and make sure plug wire is free from dirt.
5: STILL ON new sensor
6: make sure no fault codes on VAG-COM or AUDI £££$$$
Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
Hi. I'm having problems with my A4 Cabriolet 3.0. I had water in my fuse box and many other place and it messed up everything.
Had to change my oil sensor (bought a cheap one on Ebay)
Everything is fixed now but I keep getting Oil Sensor light on (orange) once the engine warms up. Temperature gauge works and everything is OK for about 5 miles. Then Sensor light comes on once it gets to normal running temperature.
If I let it sit the light goes off and comes back on after few miles again. VCDS doesnt read it as fault either.
my guess is that its a crappy sensor.
Any ideas?
Could it be because of cheap sensor or because my oil is right to the max?
also any advice where to get a OEM sensor?
I read that meyle sensors cause problems with temperature gauge so I want to avoid them. Hella maybe? not sure where to buy it. Found some on Ebay but they look as fake as the one I put in last week!
Audi want £90 for a sensor - 1J0907660B
Any chance I can get it cheaper elsewhere?
Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
Hi there i had issiue with oil low light coming on IT TURNED OUT 2B REALLY WAS LOW THE DIPSTICK IS BAD DESIGN ITS BLACK SAME COLOUR AS USED OIL IF U CHECK THE LEVEL ON DIPSTICK IT DOES LOOK FULL IN THE END I PUT ELEC HEATSHRINK TAPE ON THE END OF IT YELLOW AND RECHECKED AND IT WAS SHOWING PART AS FULL AND REST AS LOW THINK COS THE SHAPE SCRAPES ALONG THE WAS TO BEING DIPPTED. (DO NOT ) LEAVE THE TAPE ON COS THE CONSTANT HEAT WILL BREAK IT OFF INTO ENGINE ONCE DONE REMOVE IT BACK OFF. you may be able use elec tape cut strip and wrap around and warm it up to take the dipsticks end shape use bright colour. If it is not really low after doin this try these steps ....

Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
Thank you I will try that!
VCDS or VAG COM cant find anything.
It only comes on once its warm.. and Fuse 5 is new as I had to redo my fuse box. but I will try the rest
Thank you
EDIT:
checked everything. Oil shows up higher on one side of dipstick. One side just under max line and one over max line.
bonnet latch is clean.
fuse 5 is new. Put it in on Tuesday
sensor light not on. But I am sure that it will come on as soon as I do 2-3 miles..
it just seems like it comes on once the oil warms up.
i guess I will need to stick another £90 into it.
Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
If you want to be sure start on the level and flush and change the oil and filter, add 4L of 505.01 unless you have a dpf in which case you need 507 grade oil, if the light is still on after you have at best a cranky sensor and at worst a dying oil pump, which engine is it, is it a CR or a PD engine and also say which spec as you can still get an SE registered in 2009, I suspect it's a Highline model? which will be a 1.9 or a 2.0CR
Re: Engine Oil Light Passat
Hi.
I'm not sure if you replied to me or the Passat post (i crashed VW thread with my audi issue :o)
I'm going to flush mine on Tuesday, possibly clean out the whole sump. See how it goes. I hope it will work.
if your post was for me than...I'm not sure which engine - ASN? but car is a 3.0 v6 Sport Cab.
Cheers
