On my 06 a6 am I able to get it so that it shows my speed on the digital display?
Press the reset button on the bottom of the wiper stalk and it will cycle through the options
Ok cheers, so I definitely got thst function?
Yes
Thanks Chris
I could be wrong but i dont the 06 has this. I have tried to find this on my March 06 unsuccessfully
Are you sure?
Hit the reset button on the bottom of the wiper stalk and the dis should cycle through.
Oh really?
What does your DIS show when you press RESET?
MPG, RANGE, etc ... if TEL screen allow you to revert back to std DIS... if NAV screen revert back to DIS will do video maybe tomorrow or so...
I think it is a limitation of early Ins.cluster or a adaptation need doing  ...
Seen on plenty of other cars but not mine :( ...
unlucky!
just uploading a video of mine atm incase op was misunderstanding my reply
i had no bt connected so it doesnt show the bt page and didnt have a route active either.
my instrument cluster is pn - 4F0 920 982 T
lol!
video of reset button

it definitely does come in handy - i always have it displayed and saves those milliseconds looking for the speedo needle when coming up to those "safety" cameras ;)
even my a3 has it!
Cut me deep :)Quote:

How come your last digit 8  ...
Second to last digit on yours 5, NAR is North American Region IIRC ...
no idea gup
there is maybe a different label file for my cluster - i will check it out in the morning and report back.
just done a few screenshots and it seems my cluster is on the changeover point between my2007 and my2008 and is a mix of the two.
gup do you not have a low washer fluid alert?

Cheers for screenies :) ... will do comparison very soon... just taking advantage of time & weather to finish another job off ;) ...
Yep, I get washer low alert, "Check" screens, Bulb outages... I have colour DIS like you... when seeing your digital speedo it is like the MMI 3G one but in 2G style...
Right here's my screenshot...

I do have washer low warning even though not coded  ... I even put a dud battery in key and got the low message/icon on DIS...
http://cdn.as-static.com/vb/images/smilies/idea.gif maybe I should coded it in and see what happens...
Tried adding +5 to last digit on on coding... get out of range message...

Here's the advance id of ins.cluster...
http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...ps45a828d5.jpg
But I get animated washer level low/text even though coding not done ...
Ah well maybe a feature which is enabled by an adaptation or enabled with software and mine may just be too old :Blush2:...
Will do video of the "Check" function animations, "Washer Low", "Key battery Low", etc,etc...
Today I was digging around for some info by doing text searches in the full range of SSP's...
Something interesting came up in the SSP 364 for the Q7, ref page 11...
I think I may have found an SVM code which at a dealer may upgrade my instrument cluster software but unsure, if get done will post back :) ...Quote:
Modifications to Audi A6 ‘05
The control unit with display in dash panel insert J285 is already known from the Audi A6 ’05. It was adapted
functionally to the new features of the Audi Q7.
A further new feature was implemented in the onboard computer. The driver has the option of displaying the
vehicle's current speed digitally. This is done by setting the onboard computer setting the onboard computer
to the corresponding level with the Reset key. On this level, the onboard computer variables can still be
retrieved in the case of a colour dash panel insert. The two diagrams show the vehicle speed display in
a colour dash panel insert and in a monochrome dash panel insert.
Hi peeps :) ...
Been doing more digging around and now pretty confident that the ins.cluster is the last update I need in my car to get it patched up software wise...
Besides the lack of digital speedo why this update seems something I must get done is this extract from TPI (anyone reading I am searching against my VIN & car data) ...
Now the date of this TPI corresponds with creation date of the last flash update I have found for my ins.cluster... more delving for images for ins.cluster labels also confirms that newer clusters have the same software P/N & revision...Quote:
Technical background
Poor full load enrichment and communication between engine control unit and combination
instrument.
Production change
Software of engine and combination instrument updated.
Chassis number:
WAUZZZ4F6N050430
It is so frustrating at the moment :banghead:... I have the update flash... I have the info... but no flash tool :( ...
The main dealer may not entertain just flashing ins.cluster and leaving the engine ecu out as I have had that flashed to a software P/N newer and higher than one which maybe flashed with this SVM...
I have also seen info relating to another who has done this update via their own/accessible VAS system and got last software update and digital speedo...
Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread but I have a problem with my Instrument pack - there's nothing to see it all seems to work fine but when I do a VCDS scan I get this:
Address 17: Instruments Labels: 4F0-920-xxx-17.clb
Part No SW: 4F0 920 983 P HW: 4F0 920 983 P
Component: KOMBIINSTR. 0900
Revision: 00000000 Serial number: AYR00HH6C
Coding: 3332458
Shop #: WSC 01193 210 999999
VCID: 3973D1B070B36BD026B
1 Fault Found:
00003 - Control Module
005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation
The coding seems to be completely wrong. The instrument pack was replaced recently by an independent garage when the DIS failed but the mechanic had a lot of problems with setting it up. He screwed up the one chance he had through the Audi software to set the mileage and transfer the settings so it had to be hacked by a garage in North London. The label file doesn't seem to be set up properly so I don't know how to code it myself.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.
Hi,
Besides coding that error relates to the adaptations within a module...
You should be able to build up the correct set of both for coding I'm assuming as it is a later Module 17 the long coding helper must be appearing?

Sorry can't be more helpful but lack of experience meddling with this stuff :o...
ATB
G
hit it twice really quickly it then shows up the speed
What year is yours as stated earlier in the thread and other threads the function isn't available on early cars.
