Headlight washer "service mode"
I discovered my car has a rather powerful headlight washer system but it seems that most of the water goes all over the bonnet rather than the headlight! I think it needs aiming or something but I actually want to see the mechanism to see what might be wrong.
Is there a VCDS / MMI menu system setting to get the washers to pop out and stay out for inspection?

Afaik there is no inspection mode for the washer jets
If you get someone to put them on while you're standing outside the car you can see exactly where they aim.
The spray on mine rests in the bonnet but cleans the lights as they should

Well, I just got my wife to have a look and they aim all over the bonnet, her, and the neighbours front window. Hilarious!

Hi :) ...
Just looked through service guide to see if they have measurements for alignment like front/rear washer jets... only say pre set at factory :( ....
So you maybe able to set yourself...
Re: Headlight washer "service mode"
They are spring loadad and the water pressure sends the jet holder out, you may notice when the weather is cold they can sometimes freeze out a little. when i want to clean all the door jars and bumper gaps etc i use a lolly stick to hold them out and finger nails to carefully prize out.

Same here for cleaning wax off.
Although I have disabled my washers because of the mess they make on the bonnet & wings (pulled the fuse)
Re: Headlight washer "service mode"
there easy enough to pull out. Or get someone to operate them from inside and catch them when they pop out. it's generally the only way to get the covers off etc.
Re: Headlight washer "service mode"
Or get small suction pads and pull them out - like those you would use for a tomtom or mobile phone holder on a windscreen but smaller. I get loads with mobile phone parts so I use that.
Mine sprays on the bonnet but only when I've spent hours and hours cleaning the car just to annoy me. Majority is on the lights with the spray hitting the lights bouncing onto the bonnet

Good choice, nowt worse than ruining a newly prep'd body. Not as if we take ours across muddy fields and have found that treating the lights with Enduroshield makes water/dirt just fall off. Appreciate that 15yrs ago premium salons didn't have washer jets and coped just fine!
Will probs now pull the fuse on mine too :biglaugh:
Re: Headlight washer "service mode"
Good idea ! Do you know what fuse it is (being lazy here)
Only issue with fuse pull is you can't show off how amazing your A6 looks like coming out of a mist of spray when driving past a heavily crowded bus-stop

Akash...it's unkind to mock the afflicted! :p

Mine is on the left end of the dash. The fuses are marked on the inside of the cover.
But mine could be different to pre-facelift.
You will get an error code for your washers & you will have to replace it for the MOT, then pull it again.
