Hi all,
My wifes car is due a service in about a month according to the DIS. It's an 07 plate with 28.00 miles on it. Am I correct in saying that the timing belt interval is 5 years or 75,000 miles?
I heard somewhere it was 4 years, I hope that's not true as I need tyres as well. Will need to break open the piggy bank.

Mine's still on the original belt at 6 years. Only 43,000 miles though. Will prob change it myself over Easter.

Does anyone know how much Audi charge for replacing the cambelt on the 3.2 v6? Mine is coming up for 5 years old now so I guess this will need doing...
According to the manual its 80K or 5 Years whichever is first on the 2.0 TDI.

I'm thinking of buying a 2006 2.0T quattro Special Edition with 60k on the clock, as a way of trying to drive the price down i was going to slip in the cambelt change, but i read on another forum (i think) that its now been set at 110k for a belt change, i followed the link that was given (thanks) and to be fair to Audi the servicing costs etc aren't that bad, just gutted i cant use the cambelt as bargaining tool.
Is there any other little niggles i need to now about with it approaching the 60k mark?

Get them to clean the inlet valves before you buy. They cake-up with crank case deposits over time. Will slowly reduce the engines ability to breathe.
Finally got around to changing my timing belt this week.
The biggest PITA was the alan cap-screws which secure the accessory belt pulley onto the crank sprocket. They were mightily tight and the final of the 6 rounded, which resulted in completely removing the lock-carrier and chiseling the thing off.
Actually changing the timing belt was a doddle. The hardest part was locating the tensioner tab into the head's core-plug.
Not something I would recommend without a pit and/or lift.
Anyone tempted to do this, I'd budget for at least 2 days incase you encounter problems.
Audi recommend that it be done every 5 years even if you haven't reached the required mileage.

So you can still use the timing belt as a bargaining tool because it needs done.
The other bargaining tool you may be able to use is to find out of the coil packs have been changed. The B7 has an issue with them failing. But Audi have a "product Enhancement Campaign" underway - they'll replace the coil packs free of charge but they won't recall the car because it's not a safety defect.
If you contact Audi with the registration mark, they'll let you know 1 - if the car is affected and 2 - if it's been done already.
Now it's free (I just had mine done on Friday 22 April) but the seller doesn't need to know that:D
All the seller needs to know is that you've spoken to Audi and they've confirmed the required work...might get you another few pounds off.

The other thing to remember about having the cambelt done is to make sure the water pump is replaced at the same time. Even if it's not defective, get it done anyway. It adds about £30 to the bill for the part, but needs the same amount of labour to strip down. Not only that, the one thing you don't want is for the water pump to leak - and seize - and strip your new shiny cambelt to shreds.
