Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
Wow! You could go for a different colour on every light! ;) :D
-
Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
they actually can spray tint in colour of your car, i gone for light smoke, dont want to dark, will post pict as soon is done.
Also bought headlights protectors genuine OEM product, for £19.99 of ebay, will flyeye them instead of lights :beerchug:
-
Look into getting the bootlid spoiler, I think it suits the car well :) Jim has one on his car and it looks good.

Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
i will leave boot as it is for now, it looks good, slightly lipped on the edge anyway.
just want to try tail lights, also want to hide condensation on taillights, i wish it would be smoked OEM lights available for c6. I had darklines on my bmw e90, OEM darker tail light.

Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
Go for it bakili.....!!
Looking forward to seeing the results buddy :beerchug:

Tell me about it! This is my seventh car and I just cann't stop myself wanting to perfect them to make them mine. I tend to keep to OEM but like to add personal touches.
I have only owned the car two months and already:
+ New matt front and rear.
+ Changed centre consol from wood to metalic pearl.
+ Added AMI.
+ Updated MMI software to latest version (from orignal 2005 version!)
+ Unlocked battery meter, insturment cluster and secret menu options.
+ Fitted rear colour coded parking sensors.
Thinking about the following:
- Tints (light smoke)
- Rear spoiler (Avant)
- LED rear lights (I have investigated fronts but cost is not worth it yet).
- Adding Sat Nav Drive to exising MMI system.
- Adding DAB.
- Tune from 180 to over 210bhp (2.7TDI)
- Adding folding side mirrors (already have contols on drivers door).
- Adding auto dim rear view mirror (already ligh and rain sensors).
So much to do so little time and money!

Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
Out of curiosity, what did you do with your old wood? I miss the wood trim from my old quattro...

It's for sale....
https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=111718
Pictures are on ebay....
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-AUDI-A...item3cb399b2ae
(The auction was bid on but when the guy collected he found the colour didn't match his car because he had the red wood finish on the doors).
Let me know if you have any questions or would like more pictures.

What is AMI?
How did you unlocked secret menu?
Adding auto dim rear view mirror, i think its waste of money if you planing tint windows, it never worked on my other cars after tints.
Thinking of bluetooth as well, can get OEM type or Dension 500 fitted, but cant afford now. Another option is, Parrot MKi9000 had it on my e90, great kit, has usb, 3.5mm Ipod connection and costs around £200 fitted.
Just bought genuine boot liner for £25 :approve:

Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
AMI = Audi Music Interface. It intergrates your IPod, Memory Stick, or portable hard drive into the MMI system to access your music. It's great as once you have plugged in your Ipod the menu's are controlable and viewed on the cars monitor.
The secret menu needs to be enabled via VagCom.
Select Control Module "07", Click on "Adaptation"
Select Adaptation Channel: 08
0-Hidden Menu Disabled
1-Hidden Menu Enabled
Enter value "1"
Click "Test", followed by "Save"
Close & restart MMI
Press "Tel" + "MMI Control Knob" + "Upper Right Selection Button" (all together)
Press "Car+Setup" together until hidden menu appears
You can access this hidden menu by holding down CAR and SETUP for five/six seconds. There are whole host of settings you can access here, like adjusting MMI timings, visible options - apparently you can even adjust the TV blackout speed or remove it. I hear you can also make CAR menu selections appear without speed limit. WARNING! According to reports don't select "Bootloader", it will lock the system in a software update mode without a way out!
My car had Audi's bluetooth system already installed which is nice as you don't have extra screens/microphones in the car and the music pauses while you take the call rather than with other kits the music is just muted.

Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
So smoked side repeaters arrived today, paid no postage fee, and it came before other stuff which i bought after and paid for postage.

Also got roof antenna, closest look to OEM I could find, not bad for £1.75 brand new, sprayed with OEM colour match and it matches 100%
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...n/IMAG0060.jpg
Replaced main beam bulbs with 100% bright Ice blue bulbs, wow, made such a big difference compare to old dull yellow bulbs.
-
Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
Ok bakili, some nice mods there, kudos my friend:beerchug:.....BUT.....Where's the before n after on the lights showing the dull yellow old ones against the BRIGHT WHITE NEW ones???
Gotta post the pics buddy:D

Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
:Blush2: Sorry buddy, got so carried away, so forgot taking pictures :Blush2:
In the beginning was so worried, will f*** everything up, changing bulbs on C6 not easy job, to be honest I was more pleased with being able change bulbs than having brighter lights.
When i do side lights bulbs will take pictures, promise.
Jim had a look on your car again, definitely now adding lip spoiler to my list :beerchug: looks pretty good on your car.

Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
Looking good.
What are the size of your wheels / tyres ??
-
Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
Thanks Dandam
Wheels are 18" from A4 S Line B8, tyres are Dunlop sport 245/40/18
Not happy with wheel arch gap, but really like SE suspension for comfort, thinking go for 235/45/18 tyres or upgrade to 19"
-
Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
I have 245/40 R18 on mine, running on sport suspension (minus 20mm over SE spec, I think S Line is minus 35mm). The ride isn't the best in comparison to some of the Passat's I drive sometimes that run on 16's and big fat sidewalls but overall it is more than reasonable.
I fancy a set of those wheels myself - time to search eBay !!! :D:D
-
Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
i am actually thinking of swaping them to rs6, wheels or some other 18" or 19". You can pick them up on ebay for about £600-£700, i was lucky to find this set for £450 with nearly new dunlop tyres which worth around £700 only. You will need spigot rings to run them on c6, cause audi changed center bore on new audis from 57.1 to 66.
Where i can get sport suspension? Does it come as OEM or after market?
-
Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
Well if you do decide to move them on let me know if you want to sell - you never know.... Personally I like 18's, though 19's like Jim's (le mans spec) look so good on the A6.
The sport spec suspension was a factory option on SE cars. My car was previously a company car and the guy at work that originally spec'd it was very particular - a rare company car driver !!
Then I got my hands on it, and like yourself and Jim enjoy the odd mod where possible - too many years of mk1 and mk2 Golf GTi's and 'tinkering' :biglaugh::biglaugh:

Thanks :beerchug:
i will be on hunt for sport springs, looks like it will be difficult task
What wheels do you have?
I might p/x against yours
just been looking on ebay myself, you can find few sets on ebay, but different fitment. Mine are 18x8J ET47, which fits spot on. On ebay few sets which are et29 (will stick out a lot), or seen another set fronts are 8J, rears are 8.5J.
-
Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
Well the sport springs should be available from an Audi dealer given that they were a factory option, no idea what price though....
http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...3/DSC05756.jpg
These are my wheels, look nice and shiny but are an absolute pig to clean, there is a rim that runs around behind the spokes. It is actually easier to remove the wheel to clean them properly !! I was actually considering keeping them and fitting winter tyres to them, then alternate them if I did get a new set.
The car sit's ok on the sport spec suspension though - the front bumper catches the speed bumps enough as it is, even with very careful driving.

Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
Wow looks good, love them rims, are they genuine?
-
I really like your Rs8 wheels, if you decide to sell, let me know first

They are, again a factory fitted option. We had another A6 at work that was running around on the standard 5 spoke 17" alloys and standard suspension, didn't look half as good. They are 18" x 8", nice wheels but as I say a pig to keep clean.
They aren't quite perfect, there are a few marks on them (definitely the previous keeper, I park half a mile from a kerb to be clear of them) and they could do with new centre caps, the current one's are fairly corroded.

Do you fancy deal on my wheels?
They perfectly straight, nearly new tyres Dunlop Sport, few marks and scratches but you have to look for them.
Really easy to clean, you can clean inside without taking wheel off, the only reason dont like them-shows all rusty brake discs and calipers.
-
Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
So my new headlights protectors arrived today, got them straight away tinted
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...n/IMAG0066.jpg
will fit them on weekend
-
Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
finally got around today to get my brake disks and calipers painted in silver. Best thing about it, did not have to take wheels off, thanks to big gaps between spokes. It looked right mess before, with rusty hubs an calipers.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...n/IMAG0072.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...n/IMAG0073.jpg
Looks a lot better now
-
Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.
If you have painted the hubs too, just make sure that you can still remove the wheels. You probably don't want to be on the hard shoulder on a rainy night trying to remove a wheel when you discover it's stuck on after being painted... :)
MF.

Thanks for advice, but i did paint them without removing wheels ;)
Just to get rid of rusty look on hubs, so there are no paint between wheel and hub.
Brakes looks so fresh now, looks like it just rolled out from factory

Re: Few mods for my C6 on its way.

I have done headlight protectors too
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...n/IMAG0066.jpg
but one of headlight on the car is slightly dislocated, so left headlight protector won't fit.
