Yes Fieldy they were at the back of my mind even when doing chain rattle... after becoming an owner to solve things I gained access to things which made it apparent that due to the complexities of this car mechanically/electrically should have gone newer... so my bad luck :(
Looking at TSB's again manifestation of issues can vary due to wear/how many go,etc... I would assume before anything wear excessive their must be indications of it going...
I agree the A6 Quattro in V6 TDi for comparison with Merc/BMW offering does beat them IMO... both not having Quattro another tick :)
So much of car has been checked by me... me and wifey are also thinking if sell will someone just pop some injectors in and enjoy all the bits I've sussed on it...
I really feel after all the bits we've done only swirl flap motors is left... checking arms on them they look AOK :)

I agree mate will check all routes... done too much... but if my A6 get chop so be it!

If I had not bought Crafter I would have gone all 6... may just investigate routes...today went out done some videos... dropped her in sports mode and booted her about... when revs climb you would be mistaken you were not in a Diesel estate... that racy noise... the grip of Quattro... you can feel the weight of the car in D but S mode really make me :biglaugh: I think that's what's made me go on and on with this car...

Hey Gup,
I can't believe your bad luck :(
However, I think there are some positives you need to consider before selling.
1) Possible to replace only injectors that are affected? Maybe less money than you think?
2) If you get injectors done, surely your 3.0 is good for another 80,000 miles! It's had all major work done.
3) If you part ex you'll probably lose as much if not more anyway?
4) Better the devil you know. Your next car could be as bad if not worse!
5) As you've already pointed out - someone will end up with all your hard work on cheap and just put some injectors in.
I hope you can get Zesty fixed within a budget you can afford - we don't want to lose you to a Ford forum!
Chin up!
:beerchug:
Ps
Sorry for late reply - have had a busy weekend!

Re: BMK 3.0 TDi hunting erratic idle revs ( Have I got the most lemon A6!!! )
Sorry to hear about your trouble GUP, you have certainly been unlucky!
Your in a tough spot really, having spent out so much already. In my opinion its only worth selling if you can afford to get a facelift A6 where these issues are sorted...unless you want to drift away from the A6 of course.
If you do shell out for injetors you still have clutch/DMF and swirl flaps as the last, common, remaining issues. Is it possible to get the injectors reconditioned? (Sorry if its been mentioned but I have to admit to not reading all 9 pages).
Bloody cars, why do we love them so...
Re: BMK 3.0 TDi hunting erratic idle revs ( Have I got the most lemon A6!!! )
Thanks for support :)
I agree facelift is the way if stay A6... as Tiptronic Auto clutch/DMF not an issue... my swirl motor links/viewing from outside all look good (clutching all manner of lucky charms! :nervous: )
The best price for genuine so far from Bosch exchange ones are £300 a piece... gonna ring their tech support to see is exchange a new and called exchange as I have to give back my old
I like my A6, but at mo ownership has made me sad and poorer :(
Re: BMK 3.0 TDi hunting erratic idle revs ( Have I got the most lemon A6!!! )
Right I rang Audi Customer Care today to get production date... mine is 07/03/2005
Now I will do checks against TSB's as to what major issues besides ones I've fixed are left...
My Chain rattle occurred due to produced date... Link:- My post about chain
Next concerning injectors... Link:- My post on my injector info
The other bits I've done to car I can accept as general servicing/how I keep my cars...
Even throttle body is acceptable... my P/N 4E0 145 950 C as a 4 Pin one... so rev history is...
4E0 145 950 C DROPPED 01/10/2005
4E0 145 950 D DROPPED 01/07/2008
4E0 145 950 F DROPPED 01/01/2009
4E0 145 950 G DROPPED 01/07/2009
4E0 145 950 H DROPPED 01/06/2011
4E0 145 950 J CURRENT at time of posting
Besides the issues covered there is a Tiptronic oil/software TSB...

Customer statement / workshop findings
1. Noises (squeaking, howling) when shifting up and down 3-4; 4-3 under pressure.
2. Vibrations/juddering during the control phase of the converter clutch (see Note under Cause)
Vehicles with 6 speed automatic gearbox (09L).
Technical background
The clutch generates briefly (about 500 ms) noises or vibrations/juddering when changing gear.
Note: This entry only applies to vibrations/juddering during the control phase of the converter clutch.
The converter condition can be checked in MVB 007/3 (converter open/ converter control/ converter shut).
Production change
1. Optimised ATF (blue) from February 2005 (gearbox numbers A: 4000597, B:95253).
2. Optimised ATF (green) from March 2008 (gearbox number: A4, A6, A8: 4432890, Q7: 4040037)
So luckily I am AOK there as my gearbox number later than 4000597...
So if I do all injectors my view is swirl flaps/motors is only thing left... and anything else could happen on new purchase...
Re: BMK 3.0 TDi hunting erratic idle revs ( Have I got the most lemon A6!!! )
Glad to see you being a bit more reflective and philosophical about it Gup. :D
Re: BMK 3.0 TDi hunting erratic idle revs ( Have I got the most lemon A6!!! )
For A8 Tech... my older MVB 72 -77 and new...
Attachment 18339
Attachment 18338
Attachment 18340
Will upload a video of MVB 18 13 14... when rocking of engine occur and at that point when most violent MVB 13 data window 2 go shooting into positive like 4-5 then come down to 2... on driving lower even...
SO I'm assuming things like lazy starter, battery or a software update is out of the question A8 Tech?
Re: BMK 3.0 TDi hunting erratic idle revs ( Have I got the most lemon A6!!! )
Gup
ask fellow members to log same mvb's to compare, must be same engine code and next step would be to move the suspect injectors to another cylinder
it would suggest either three things
poor glow plugs, loss of compression all be it slight but the evidence does suggest injectors and if so all should be replaced but this is speculation
so crack on and lets see what's going on
slow cranking will not help and lets see your current ecu sw version to compare against any updates
also consider this
Customer statement / workshop findings
3.0 l V6 TDI; brief engine speed fluctuations after the start.
Technical background
The throttle valve is quickly closed after the start. This leads to a greater exhaust gas recirculation volume and brief idle speed fluctuations.
for none dpf bmk there was a software update to cure this and suspect it was a fuelling increase at idle
tip
if you disconnect the airmass it will deactivate egr so try starting it with the airmass unplugged and see what happens
checked your ecu data and your sw version 040 is the latest for bmk so no updates
