Ha, so why didn't you say so! :-)
Not sure on the ecus ability to relearn though. I will make it the subject of my next google knowledge quest! I'm an aircraft engineer myself but of the wiggly electron variety so I will consider it my duty to gen up on the wiggly electron powered ecu :-)
Re: PD 130 manual 32mpg :(
One thing that has struck me, is when I had the car on VCDS I noted the intake air temp was reading 40 deg now I can't for the life of me remember if that was Celsius or F..... I assumed C and put the high temp down to gains through compression in the turbo but now I wonder if thats a bit high and the sensor is u/s. However if it reads F that would be 4.4 deg C and probably actually not far off ambient. More research to be done.... Lol
Re: PD 130 manual 32mpg :(
So Electrician or Avionics ?
Re: PD 130 manual 32mpg :(
I've replaced yesterday glow plugs. I've also sorted the timing. Now sits on 0.0 and occasionaly jumps to 0.6. The glowplugs sorted the lumpy startup and smoke. I don't think it sorted the mpg tho. A word of warning if anyone is to adjust their timing. Do it with very small moves - just a nodge! moving it for more then couple of millimiters and your car does not start. It took me a bit to get it correct.
Re: PD 130 manual 32mpg :(
Well done..... will have to let us know how it goes over a brimmed tank....
Re: PD 130 manual 32mpg :(
will do. I am back next week when I will test it with full tank. I will be also looking for 2.0 tdi turbo. Think I can hear something like waste gate or shaft wobble when accelerator is taken of suddenly. However, it drives perfect. Need to have a look at that leak at the back too so all in all busy Spring!
Re: PD 130 manual 32mpg :(
There is no waste gate on these as the VNT deals with excess pressure...... Have you given the VNT actuator arm some attention and made sure it has a full and free range of movement. Re that noise mine has been making it for ages - I thought initially it was fly wheel related but know now it's definitely not. If you unplug the MAP sensor on the plastic boost pipe and force the car into limp mode thus shutting down the turbo that noise disappears....... I did wonder if I had a split in a pipe somewhere on the induction pipework as the noise only appears when the manifold would be under vacuum.....

From the temperature logs I have carried out in the past I found that intake temperature was often 20-30 deg C above ambient temp. I just put this down to inefficient intercooler and hot egr gasses being fed into the intake. Looking at intake, ambient, fuel and coolant temps using VCDS on a cold engine should show them all to be the same, indicating all temp sensors are serviceable.
Originally avionics but cross-trained to electrical now, too. Just don't ask me to explain motor windings :D

Some bigger audi turbos are a straight bolt but your car would require a custom remap and uprated injectors to get the best performance improvement. There's plenty of info out there on the forums. Alternatively, there's plenty of turbo reconditioning places out there that can return your turbo to a nearly new condition for a fraction of the cost.

I've confirmed yesterday that noise is definetly coming from turbo. When MAP is disconnected there is no noise when pedal is off. Cannot fault the car how it drives of pulls. Just worried about that noise as it sounds like rattlly turbo shaft in exhaust.
Also, as far as mpg the best I get out of it is 42 mpg mixed. Over 50mpg figures only when doing 60 mph on motorway.
